I walked along the streets of New Orleans my old home. How much it had changed. From the type of businesses to the different means of transportation. New Orleans had adapted to the newer times though I will admit I missed the old town. So much nicer and simpler.

I noticed a woman who looked about my age walking alone. I was so tempted to have her but I decided against it. Something told me she wasn't one to be toyed with. I watched as a man lumbered over to her. The idiot was drunk. I shook my head hiding in the shadows of a tall apartment building. He was scanning the women's body and slurring as he spoke.

I watched as the girl not only grew fangs but sunk them into the man's neck, draining him. She cleaned her mouth after carelessly throwing the body away, then fixed her composure before turning around to walk away as if nothing happened. Amazing! There's a girl who isn't afraid to...what is that term that my brother used? Throw down?

I took a step out of the dark and she stopped walking to look around. I quickly hid myself again. She seemed so familiar. I couldn't put my finger on it but I definitely knew her somehow.

I watched as she walked into her apartment building. I smiled and stepped forward ready to follow her but my smile faded when I spotted a vampire watching me from across the street, fangs bared. Two more bothersome creatures appeared from the tops of the buildings on across the street.

"Our leader would like to speak with you." One growled angrily. I nodded. "Well then let's not keep him waiting." I said gesturing for the man...no boy who spoke to lead the way.

He walked with me to a bar where I met their 'leader'. "Marcel." I said to the man standing before me. "Klaus. It's been what, a hundred years?" He asked. "Has it really been that long?" I asked in return. "If I'd known you were coming-" "What would you have done?" I asked seriously. "I would've thrown you a damn parade." He said smiling.

I hugged my old friend and looked around the room to see that girl again. I got a better look at her from across the room. She had scarlet curly hair, grey eyes and wore tight black pants which showed off a quite a bit of her long slender legs. She was beautiful.

"Marcel? Who's that?" I asked looking at the girl who stared back at me curiosity in her eyes. "Alice Castaga. Be careful she's a vampire and a witch a very tricky combo. Somehow when she got turned she was 'gifted' with the ability to keep or continue to use her powers." I glanced at him in surprise.

In my entire two thousand seventeen years years as a vampire I had never heard of a witch becoming a vampire with her natural abilities intact.

She suddenly spun on her heel and walked out of the bar pushing past a few people. I started to follow her but Will stopped me by grabbing my wrist. "I wouldn't she doesn't take kindly vampires let alone hybrids and has no interest in either." He said almost loathing. I smiled.

He always wanted what he couldn't have. "Well then it wouldn't hurt for me to give it a shot would it mate?" I asked. He nodded slowly releasing my arm.

I walked outside to see another vampire attack her. She caught him by his throat and threw him against the wall without flinching. He lunged at her again but she kicked him back and swiftly broke his neck. I slowly started to clap. She turned to look at me her hair partially covering her right eye.

I appeared in front of her. "What's wrong love? Too high and mighty to take a compliment." Her eyes grew wide. "It is you." She said softly. Her voice was so familiar. Yes I definitely knew her. But from where?

What? I looked at her confused as I processed what she said. "You're the one who turned me." I gave her a puzzled look. She smiled softly. "1763 you turned me from an ordinary witch into a vampire." She said softly. I smiled. No wonder she looked so familiar. "Ah! Yes I remember you." I said looking at her for a moment still unable to remember turning her.

"Where are you staying sir?" She asked politely. "Well....nowhere really." I said realizing I hadn't asked Will. "Can I stay with you?" I asked. She looked surprised. "Um sure?" She nodded slowly. "C'mon. I'll show you where it is." She said ushering me towards the same apartment building I had seen her enter previously. A simple little thing with beige bricks and light blue doors and window panes. It was cozy.

"You should head back. Will won't be happy you left him hanging." She said as we entered her living room once more after she gave me the tour of her apartment. "No love I'd rather stay here and listen to stories about you and your adventures." I said smiling as I sat down on her long couch getting comfortable. She chuckled and nodded taking a seat on the love seat. She sat down cross legged then started to tell me about her life.

She spoke about moving to New Orleans and her family's deaths with so much sorrow. She seemed so sad about losing her family even though according to her she had lost them centuries earlier. It was refreshing to meet someone who wasn't afraid to express them self.

She also told me about how treacherous the witches were and how merciless the vampires had been in return. "Neither of the sides will win this war. It will end in blood and flames." She said coldly. I stared at the women's stormy grey eyes and her fiery red hair.

"The worst part is every time something happens that favours one of the sides the losing side blames me. Their under the impression that I interfere with their affairs." She growled.

"Do you?" I asked her anger having peaked my interest. "Never. I have no interest in the war. I avoid it at all costs in fact. My involvement will only cause more death for both sides." Alice's voice had become soft as she explained her inability to act.

My anger sparked seeing how helpless this woman was and how she was persecuted just for being what she was. It was an odd sensation. One I hadn't felt in many, many years. I had an odd instinct to protect Alice yet I barely knew her. She was so familiar yet I couldn't remember turning her. Who are you Alice?

"What about you sir? Do you have family?" She asked bringing me back to see her light grey eyes looking at me curiously. "Yes love I do. A brother and a sister." I said smiling fondly at the thought of my siblings. "We're actually quite close." "I wish I had siblings but my brother died long ago." Her anguish caused my heart to ache. What is this feeling? Why do I feel this way? It wasn't a familiar feeling.

I heard a crack making me look up and glance at her. She was staring at the far side of the room with a cold gaze. I turned around to see what had this woman so riled up.

Marcel was standing on the balcony glaring at her. "So you've been here with this little half breed?" He asked staring Alice down rage glistening in his eyes. I felt a small twinge of anger as he spoke down at her. He reminded me of my father which disgusted me. This is not the Marcel I used to know.

"Yes. I've been with Alice." I said glaring at him. Will looked surprised by my outburst. I'm not sure why it upset me hearing him talk about her like that but it did. "Well then. I'll see you later Klaus." He said and stormed away jumping off Alice's balcony. Alice burst out laughing. I smiled then felt images flash before my eyes. I closed my eyes.

"Nik!" I looked up from the letter I had been writing. "Just a minute love!" I signed the letter. The date on the letter was September 19, 1493. I walked outside to see Alice sitting on the wooden bench in the lush garden.

I walked over to her and she started to run. I chased her around the greenery which I assumed was a forest, where large bushes and tall trees grew."Nik stop it!" Alice was laughing as she tried to run away from me.

She wore a slim light blue dress which hugged her body and had a silver belt around her waist. The dress showed off her creamy white shoulders and highlighted her red hair. I caught her by the waist and pulled her into me. "Caught you." I whispered into her ear from behind. "What's my prize?" I asked as she turned around. "Hhhmmm. I don't know. You tell me." She said running her fingers down my chest. I leaned down and kissed her sweetly.

The image ended and I sat there frozen. I pressed my fingers to my lips. It felt so real. Alice gave me a worried look. What just happened? "Are you alright sir?" I chuckled and nodded.

"My name is Niklaus love. Call me Klaus." She smiled and nodded. "Alright...Klaus." She said hesitantly as if she was testing out how my name sounded. The way she said my name made me shiver for some unknown reason.

I excused myself to change into night clothes and took a few moments to think. That's impossible. It couldn't have been 1423. Alice was turned in 1763. That was impossible...wasn't it?
