Klaus and Alice have everything they ever wanted. A loving family, a peaceful place to raise their child and each other.
But dark clouds are forming on the horizon as Alice is called back to Mystic Falls by her old friends Stefan and Damon Salvatore, to solve what seems like an impossible problem that threatens to destroy their town.
Nik is also called away by his brother Elijah as they return to New Orleans to save Niklaus' father...his real father.
As these two lovers are separated, their son is still in grave danger as a face from their past comes back for a visit, intent on destroying what's left of the Michaelson family.
