Chapter 25: The Day

Nik and I spent the seven days together eating out and enjoying everything we could about New Orleans. We knew that after the curse is broken we'd leave New Orleans and never look back. Kat was a little upset that I was leaving but was proud to hear about my discovery regarding both the curse and Niklaus. 

It was the day. The day when we would break the curse and Klaus and I could finally be together. I woke up smiling. I quickly ate and changed into my jeans and a purple v-neck. I set aside my extra clothes and emergency supplies in case something went wrong that night. I found Klaus cleaning the blade of the dagger.

We had spent the past few days enjoying the time we had together finally able to relax so I guess he just wanted to do something productive. "What don't think a rusty old dagger can kill me?" I asked playfully sitting down on his lap so he had to work around me. "No love. Just thought the blade's elegence should match the elegence of the women it's killing." I chuckled. "Nik your so-" A searing pain shot through my head. I screamed in pain. I watched images flash before my eyes.

An altar, the dagger, blood, a werewolf, Klaus covered in blood and me....dead. The image that scared me the most was a werewolf I had once dated named  Arthur. It ended badly when he found out I was a vampire and hunted me for several years until he finally gave up when his sister died during child labour back home. I held my head laying on the floor. Klaus loomed over me.

"Love? Alice!" I groaned and tried to stand only to find myself leaning against Klaus for support. "W-We n-need to t-talk." I mumbled trying to collect myself. "Alright love but you need to sit in bed first. We'll talk then you should get some rest." He said softly kissing my forehead. I felt myself get lifted up and carried to my room. When I was comfortable I explained to him what I saw. "Nothing will happen to you love." He said firmly. "I will make sure of that. Now rest." He ordered. I chuckled. "Alright Nik. I'll talk to you when I wake up." I said and closed my eyes.

I woke up to find that it was dark out. I checked the time. It was 8pm. I pulled a grey woolen cardigan over my t-shirt and walked out into the living room. I found Elijah reading through one of my books. "Good evening Elijah!" I said kindly. He looked up at me and smiled. "Are you ready for tonight Alice?" He asked smiling. "Yes I am." I said confidently. "I'd be careful if I were you." Elijah warned. "There was said to be a few werewolves that made their way into town." I stiffened. Arthur was in town i knew it! "Elijah where is Klaus?" I asked urgently. "He's in his room why?" Elijah looked concerned.

I explained to Elijah what I saw in my vision. He looked worried as I quickly knocked on Klaus door. Klaus opened the door and smiled when he saw me but his smiled disappeared when he saw my facial expression. He started to ask when I immidaitely blurted everything out. "Arthur is in town." I whispered at the end of it. "He's not going to touch you!" He said angrily clenching his fists. Rebeka walked into the apartment. "Guys we should go. Alice you and I need to prepare some stuff." She said nodding towards thing I would need after I was resurrected. I nodded. "Gimme a sec Beka." I said.

I walked into my room and pulled two needles full of wolf's bane. "Just in case you have a run in with an old friend?" Klaus asked from the door way. Venom dripping from every word. "Yes. Klaus I'll be fine. Don't worry." I said. I walked over to him and kissed him. He started to pull me into the kiss but I broke it off. Later. I said to him. Alright love. Fine. I chuckled and walked out with Beka.

"Are you ready for tonight Alice?" Rebeka asked as we put a few blood bags together and created an altar for the killing. "Yes. I think." I said. Beka laughed lightly. "Gosh Alice what are we going to do with you? One minute your ready to kill for your beliefs the next you're on the fence." I chuckled. "Well cut me some slack okay!" I said playfully shoving her. There was a long silence until Beka finally spoke. "Thank you." She said. I gave her a confused look.

"All Elijah and I have ever wanted for our brother was for him to find happiness and to care again." She said avoiding my eyes. "He's normally so cruel and diabolical but he's changed slightly. He's more protective and caring towards us as a family. He's learnt that it's okay to care. So thank you." I smiled softly. "Thank you for excepting me as your family and for allowing me to be a part of it." Rebeka smiled at that and hugged me. It was such a beautiful moment but it didn't last long.

"Oh how sweet two blood suckers hugging in the moon light." That voice was so familiar and my hair stood on end as I turned. "Hello Alice." Arthur said while smirking with two vampires with him one standing on either side. "Beka-" "I know but I'm not going to." She said baring her fangs. I smiled. "Didn't think you would. Was worth a shot thought." Klaus, Arthur found us please hurry! I said through our telepathic link. "Well aren't you going to come with us peacefully?" Arthur asked raising an eyebrow. I smirked. "It's been a few years Arthur people change." I lunged forward at Arthur. Arthur and his lackies sprung into action. Rebeka fought both guys while I brawled with Arthur.

He tackled me and stradeled me but I flipped him over and rained punches down on him. He threw me off and landed safely on my feet. Arthur lunged at me again but I kicked him back. He growled and grew his claws out and his teeth. I extended my fangs and cracked my knuckles. "Now you die!" He said as he swipped at me. I flipped back and jumped off the edge of a rock kicking Arthur straight in the head. He hit the ground growling angrily as he quickly regained himself. I pulled out a needle contaning the Wolf's Bane and lunged at him. Arthur dodged me as I swipped at him. He quickly slashed at me causing me to  cartwheeled back once again only to be met with a rock to the face. I hit the ground hard. I groaned as I felt someone looming over me.

"Let's see how you like being used you blood sucker." I heard Arthur say. That's when a horrible pain shot through my body starting from my neck. He bit me. As I felt him lean away I stabbed him with the needle of wolf's bane jamming my finger over the end of it forcing the toxic liquid out of it. I could hear his gasps for air just as mine started. I couldn't breathe and the pain was getting worse. Keep your eyes open. I reminded myself.

"Alice!" I could hear someone calling but I didn't know who it was. I felt myself get lifted up and put down on something cold and smooth. I felt my eyes get heavy and my breathing slow down as I looked up at the stary sky. "Alice don't you dare close your eyes!" I heard a girl scream. "Please don't leave me." I heard a man beg. Klaus? "Alice please! You're stronger than this!" Another man spoke. Something was pressed against my lips but I didn't have the strength to open them. I felt so tired and I couldn't fight anymore so I closed my eyes letting the dark consume me.
