I ran down to the edge of the river and looked up at the moon. It's a cresent moon tonight. We didn't have many days left. "Rebeka help me create an altar." I said as I set my bag down. I lifted some of the larger boulders and stones around me turning them into some kind of cement. "Alice you cant seriously leave him." She said her voice barely above a whisper. She sounded pained and rather hurt. "I have to." I whispered back blinking away the tears which threatened to fall.
"Okay. I'll help you but you need to leave something for him telling him to move on." Rebeka said. "He can't lose you like this Aly." I looked at her for the first time since we got to the river. "Rebeka I'm doing this to save him!" I felt tears form in my eyes. "If what that book says is true he's going to die if I don't on the full moon." Rebeka pulled me into a hug. "Let us help you please." She whispered sadly.
I started to make the altar for the sacrafice. Rebeka helped me by using her vampire speed to get stones to help support the base of the altar. When we finished making it I sat down in front of it and let the tears I've been holding in fall. Before long I was sobbing uncontrolably. Rebeka pulled me into her side letting me cry on her shoulder. I was shaking violently because I was crying so hard. Beka rubbed my back trying to calm me down. "I don't want to do this to his but-but I have to, to save his life." I choked out.
We sat there until I had calmed down. Suddenly Beka was thrown away from me and I was lifted up my throat. I found myself looking directly at Marcel. "What's wrong little witch can't curse us from up there?" He asked laughing evilly. The vampires around him laughed as they tried to hold Bekah back.
"I-if y-you kill me you're a dead m-man!" I said as Marcel's grip tightened around my throat. "Oh am I? You just pushed him away and you expect him to come running back to you? Ha! That's not the way the world works." He said chuckling. "Klaus might actually thank me for this." He said smirking.
"Ah!" I heard Rebeka scream. "When I'm finished with you I'll play around with that pretty blonde over there." He said smirking. "I wouldn't do that." Marcel smirked. "Why?" "Because she's my sister." We turned to see Klaus standing there. His fists were clentched. Marcel released me causing me to drop to the ground in pain.
Klaus killed all the vampires leaving only Marcel. Marcel looked at Klaus impressed. "Now are you going to kill this stupid broad?" He asked smirking. "No. Because I'm going to kill you." Marcel turned just in time to see a peice of slate slice his head clean off. I stood staring down at Marcel's corpse. "That's for Josette you son of a bitch!" I said as I looked up at Rebekah who stood smiling at me. "That felt good."
Klaus smiled impressed as he watched me. He smiled at me but my smile disappeaered as I looked at him. I started to back away slowly. "Alice." He called out running after me as I sprinted down the side of the river using my vampire speed to help me push off harder. "Alice!" I felt him grab me from behind. Of course being the original vampire he catches me. I sighed angrily.
I immidiately started struggling against Nik's grip which was quite loose considering the circumstances. "There is another way." He whispered in my ear. "No one has to die." I looked at him and stopped struggling. "What?" I said confused. "See for yourself." I pressed my forehead against his and watched his memory.
"Klaus!" Elijah said. "I can translate it! Alice needs to die on the full moon to allow you to live however there is another way! If you both give a drop of blood on the night of the full moon then both your lives will be saved."
I pulled away. Klaus looked at me smiling. I smiled back. Elijah was lying there was no other way. "What's wrong?" Klaus asked confused. "You're heart beat quickened." I pulled away blushing. "You're just a little close." I said.
Nik smiled and pulled me closer. "Like this?" He asked leaning in. "Oh get a room!" We turned to see Rebeka wiping blood off of her face and using the water from the river to wash her hands. "Beka!" I ran over to her and gently ran my fingers over her wounds healing them automatically. "You know love that's not a bad idea." Klaus said smirking. I gave him a questioning glance. "Getting a room." I threw a rock at him hitting his shoulder. He laughed lightly as the wound healed. Rebeka gaged rolling her eyes. "You know I think I'll find another place to sleep for the night. You two head on home." Rebeka said smirking.
As we walked home I ran my fingers over the number on my wrist. We had twenty two days to find a solution that didn't involve either of us dying. If we didn't I knew what I had to do.
"You know we could leave here once the curse is broken. We could go anywhere you want to go." He said smiling as he laced our hands together smiling brightly at me. I stared into his bright eyes as he smiled down at me. "Let's not get ahead of ourselves Klaus. Let's break the curse first." I said walking ahead of NIklaus.
"Why do you feel the need to do that?" Nik asked making me turn to him confused. "You try and block everything else out and everyone else out. You never let anyone get close to you love." Klaus asked stroking my cheek. "You do the same thing Nik. In fact you make it more obvious." "You're starting to remember too?" I nodded smiling.
Over the past few days I have been having dream upon dream about Nik and I when we were human. "Don't you remember when you asked me to stay away from you? The first time you lost control with me." Nik looked at me with an unsure expression. "Then let me show you." I hugged Klaus pressing our foreheads against each other.
"I appreciate you being here but we cannot be together." Nik said coldly his back turned to me as he stood on a cliff in front of me. He had just lost his brother Alec and I had come to comfort him. "What? Why?" I asked fear in my voice. Oh father please tell me you didn't end the wedding! "You had me pegged from the start. A man tortured by his demons and those demons aren't dormant they are hell bent on killing me! And destroying everything beautiful in my life." Klaus turned to face me. He cupped my cheek as I leaned into his touch. "And you are so beautiful." He whispered.
Blood covered his face and his eyes were darkening. "Alice I am a monster. You're mother was right. You shouldn't be near me when I'm like this....or at all. I could kill you." I looked up at Nik and smiled. "Then turn me." Nik looked away. I could see the dark veins becoming more visible under his eyes as his eyes became pitch black. "Never! I will never do to you what was done to me." Nik insisted. "Then you are just going to have to get used to me. I am not walking away Nik. Not now....not ever." I said using both hands to cup Klaus' cheeks and run my thumb over the veins under his eyes. Slowly the veins disappeared, his eyes turned back to their normal color and his fangs detracted.
I pulled away and smiled before walking ahead of Klaus to the apartment. Nik appeared in front of me. "I'm not going to let you go home love until you tell me you'll go with me." He said with his signature smirk as he crossed his arms over his chest. I sighed irritated. "Fine." I said rolling me eyes. "Fine...." "Fine I will leave with you once the curse is broken and we will go visit exotic places and see the world together." I couldn't help but smile at Nik's hope. He would be so heart broken when I die. Well for now let him have hope.
