I woke up to light streaming through the window. I was surrounded by warth and comfort. I blinked a few times and tried to move only to find something tugging at my waist. I turned around and nearly screamed at the sight of Klaus. His eyes were open and his breathing was slow.
"How...how are you here?" I whisper lifting my hand up and brushing his cheek smiling while biting my lip happily. "You don't remember yesterday love?" He reached over to the bed side table and lifted up a rag covered in blood. Then it all came back to me.
"Right." I said dropping my hand and scooting away from the hybrid knowing he didn't love me anymore. "I should go check on John." I said reluctant to leave the bed but aware of Nik's judging gaze. "Alright." He pulled his arms back and watched as I pulled on my brown ankle boots before walking to the mirror. I washed my face and brushed my hair quickly before walking out of the room only to be greeted by my hyper active seven year old son.
"Mommmy!" He squeeled as I lifted him up kissing his cheek repeatedly. "Did you sleep well John or did you miss me?" He giggled. "I slept well thank you." John said grabbing my hand and leading me downstairs to the kitchen where I was greeted with Rebekah and Elijah. "Bekah! Elijah!" I hugged the siblings tightly. "You're safe!" Bekah said smiling brightly. "Of course she is." We all turned to see Klaus standing in the door way. "Daddy!" John jumped into his father's arms. Nik smiled down proudly at his son hugging him tightly.
"Alice you really did bring our brother back to us." Elijah said hugging me and planting a kiss on my forehead. "NOOOOO!" John yelped running towards his mother. "You can't kiss my mommmy only daddy can do that!" John exclaimed causing the three vampires to burst into laughter. "You know he's right love and I am very protective of what's mine." Klaus said darkly causing me to turn in slight fear. As if sensing his mother's fear John laced fingers with his mother. Knowing his mother was still in a fragile state John was weary of his father's presence since it seemed to scare his mother.
"John why don't we get you some breaky and let your mommy and daddy talk? Hmm?" Rebekah asked smiling brightly. "Okay." The young boy said hesitantly leaving the room with the blonde vampire leaving Elijah and the young couple.
"Is there a problem Niklaus?" The older brother asked. "Yes there is. I want my fiancee to stay in this house at all times unless stated otherwise with no one but either Rebekah, you or myself." I looked away not able to argue. Everytime I have over the past six years I have been hit or hurt so why start again now?
"No arguments Alice? Hardly seems like you." I shook my head. "No I don't have any arguments." I said looking out and watching as my child fed on a blood bag. I could see images flash before my eyes causing me to cringe before looking back at Nik. "Can I go back to the room now? I don't feel well." He nodded. I could feel the boys watch as I left the kitchen and walked up the stair case to the master bed room.
I sat down on the bed and smiled as a fond memory returned to me. One from long ago when I was young and just learning what love was.
"Niklaus please! I didn't mean to hurt you!" I begged as I followed my friend down to the river. "It was an accident. I can't control it sometimes." I explained as I knelt down beside Nik as he cleaned his wound. "I'm fine Alice and I'm not cross with you." He said smiling at me. I nodded slowly before resting my hand over his wound and allowing the energy to flow through me. I removed my hand and the cut was healed.
"You're amazing." Klaus whispered smiling at me. "When can I get that dance you promised me eh Alice?" The man asked refering to the dance promised to him on his eighteenth birthday. "You will get it tonight at the banquet." I said standing. He kissed my cheek making me blush and look away.
"Alice." I turned to find myself inches from Niklaus' face. "Yes." I breathed stepping back only to feel my back pressed into a tree trunk. "Promise?" I smiled. "I promise." I leaned in and my lips brushed his. He brushed hair out of my eyes as he kissed my forehead then my nose.
"Alice!" I could hear my mother calling for me. "I must go. I will see you tonight Niklaus." I said rushing off to see to my ill mother. I ran past the stables giving my father a kiss and a wink before going to my mother's side.
"Alice!" I shot up from my sitting position on the bed and turned to see Niklaus by the door. His eyes scanned my body confusion in his eyes. "Yes? Yeah?" He stepped into the room. "Are you alright there love?" I nodded. "Mmmhhhmm." He didn't look convinced. "I'm just remembering. That time I lost control of my magic and I hurt you." Niklaus smiled. "The banquet you never came to." I nodded.
"Yeah....I'm gonna go check on John." I said hating the tension between the two of us. "Rebekah has that covered. He seems very attached to his new found aunt." Nik said smiling at the thought of his son. "Well I told him stories of all of you." I said strolling back to the window and looked out over the forest. "Why did you tell him I stayed away to protect him?" He asked walking over to the bed and sitting down.
I couldn't help but notice he was in a grey long sleeve shirt with three white buttons at the top of his shirt, black jeans and his regular shoes. He looked good. "Because you never wanted to be away from him for so long. I stayed away from you to help him become rooted in his virtues as a person before he got dragged into this world of war and enemies and blood. He is now and I think it was time for him to meet his father." I said explaining my actions.
"That's very smart of you as a mother but wouldn't you think it would make sense for you to explain that to your fiancee rather than stabbing him with a spelled dagger!" Klaus hissed angrily. "If I had would you have let us go?" I asked defensively turning to face the man. "Yes!" I rolled my eyes and walked over to the book stand. "You wouldn't have and you know it Nik." I said finding a book to read.
I spun around and yelped in surprise dropping the book. Nik was a mere inches from her body. "History does seem to repeat itself with us doesn't it love?" Klaus asked forcefully placing his hand palm up beside my head. Fear started to rise in my chest. Please don't hurt me. I begged mentally not realizing I was speaking out loud as well. Niklaus stepped away from me. "I would never hurt you." He said confused as he moved away from me.
"Love are you alright?" I nodded and picked my book up. I tried to walk by Klaus to leave the room but he grabbed my arm stopping me. "Alice you;re hurting love. What's wrong?" "Nothing." I mumbled trying to free my arm. "Love you barely look me in the eye, you can't argue with me and the only time you smile is when I'm not around. What's wrong love? What do you need?" He begged softly.
"Hold me." I blurted out surprising us both. "I know you don't trust me and for good reason but please right now I just need someone to hold me and not completely judge me-" My voice was muffled as Nik pulled me into his chest and let me cry.
