I couldn't sleep that night. I could hear quiet sobs coming from Alice's room and I couldn't sleep knowing she was so hurt. Why did I turn her? I have turned people just for the sake of turning them but I wouldn't do that to her....would I? My memory wouldn't give and my head started to hurt from thinking to hard no doubt.

I heard Elijah enter the house and Rebeka open Alice's door. I knew Elijah was going to ask. He walked in rage in his eyes. "Don't." Was all I said. "I need to remember what really happened because even you know I wouldn't do that to her. Maybe to some random man but a women?" He nodded understandingly. I could hear Rebeka comforting Alice. I sighed.

"Alice please forgive me. I didn't know what I was doing." I whispered knowing that she could hear me with her vampire hearing. "I can't. Not yet." She said back her voice cracking. Hearing her say that seemed to break something inside of me as tears misted me eyes. Having not cried in centuried you can only imagine my brothers surprise. "Give me time to help you figure out what really happened and how to break this curse." I sighed. "Alright love but you are and will forever be mine." I whispered back.

Elijah looked at me in shock. "Klaus you're in love with this girl." He said smiling happily yet there was something else in his voice. Sadness? "Yes." I said. "Yes I believe I am." Elijah smiled kindly and nodded walking out of the room.

I felt broken. I sighed as I quickly changed. As I emptied the pockets of my trousers something fell out of it. I put them away then picked up the object. I realized it was Alice's locket. She had dropped it at the restaurant so I slipped it into my pocket to return to her later.

I ran my finger over it then slowly opened it. A picture of Alice and a man with short brown hair and grey eyes similar to Alice was in the locket covered with clean glass. I smiled and dropped the locket on my bed side table when I heard a ringing noise. I looked at the locket and lifted it up. I opened it once more then closed it and looked at the stone that was shaped like a flame. I gently pressed the stone and the locket opened revealing a small peice of parchment and a ring.

I touched the ring and I felt something pulse through me. I howled in pain. I dropped to my knees and dropped the locket. I quickly closed it as the door was opened revealing a very worried and teary eyed Alice. Her eyes were wide with shock and she stood staring for a few moment. She slowly knelt down beside me worriedly and looked at my hand which was burnt badly. It very slowly started to heal. She looked at me in shock. She knew that the locket held that ring. She wipped her eyes and took me to the sink in the washroom washing away the blood. Rebekah and Elijah left the apartment sensing that we needed time to talk.

Alice sat me down on the couch and sighed. She wasnt telling me something. "Alice what is that ring?" I asked. She didnt respond. "Alice. Don't make me ask again." I said my voice dangerously low. I got up pinning her against the wall. "WHAT IS THAT RING???" I screamed. "It's a family heirloom." She said as I released her. I stepped away from her for a moment. I couldn't believe I had done that to Alice!

"I'm sorry." She didn't respond. I grasped her chin and gently made her turn to look at me. I froze when I realied why she hadn't responded. "You saw a vision when you saw me in the room." I said realizing why she had been so terrified when she saw me with her locket. She nodded. "It's when my mother died." She whispered. "I-" She stopped and closed her eyes trying to calm herself down. "Let me show you." She took her index finger and her middle finger and pressed it lightly against my forehead.

We were in a dimly lit bedroom where young Alice knelt beside her mother. "My child you must promise me that you won't marry a member of the Mikaelson family." She said in a raspy voice. "Why mother?" Alice asked. "I like Niklaus he isn't like most." She said softly. "Do not speak such nonsense! If a witch in our family is ever to be wed to their kind all in our blood line will be lost!" The sickly women hissed angrily.

Alice bowed her head. "There there my beautiful daughter. You will find someone else. Someone better." The women said. "Take this and wear them both. They will protect you against them." Alice nodded. "Why do you hate them so mother?" Alice asked as she stood up putting the ring and necklace on. "Because they are vampires! Dark creatures of the night who care for no one but themselves. They are unnatural beings!" The old women said loathingly.

"Promise me child. Promise me that you will not marry him." Alice nodded. "To make certain this I must do one last spell." Alice fetched the women her spell book and the women cast a spell on Alice. "If you ever fall in love with one of those beasts you will not live to see your child as long as you wear that ring. It will protect you and pulse when vampires are near." The old women whispered as she breathed her last breathe.

We were taken to the near future where Alice stood up from a banquet table and walked away very upset. I followed her. "Alice what's wrong love?" I asked gripping her shoulder softly only to feel my flesh start to burn. I dropped to my knee in pain. "Niklaus you are a vampire." She hissed raising her hands up to defend herself. "Yes love I am." I said stepping back. Alice looked confused. "I refuse to hurt you." I whispered softly. Her eyes closed and she turned her back to me.

"Can you honestly say you feel nothing for me?" I yelled angrily. "You feel no love towards someone who risked everything to try and make certain your mother who hated me could live a while longer to spend time with her beloved daughter!" I stepped towards her and she spun around tears in her eyes.

"My mother's last words were that I couldn't fall in love with a monster like you but..." She trailed off as she swipped away the tears. "I'm falling for you Niklaus and it scares me." She said slipping the ring off of her finger. She delicately opened the necklace and slipped the ring into it. I stepped forward kissing her and pressing her against the tree behind her. "Alice!" A male voice called out. "Give us a moment John!" She called out turning back to me. "Promise you and I will never have to leave each other...promise me..." I smiled down at Alice. "I promise."

I was jolted back into reality and found Alice sitting opposite me. "So I guess we know who was cursed." She said softly. I noticed a small tatoo on her wrist. It was the number 26. It was counting down the days till her death. I looked into her eyes to see the fear and pure horror. We were a forbidden love that never was supposed to happen and now because of the pride of Alice's mother I may lose the one person who has ever truly loved me.
