Chapter 18: Kol Lives

As Alice pulled me through the crowd of people I could sense my little brother. Kol. I dont know how he's alive after I almost ripped him apart the last time I saw him but he seems to have survived our last fight. I wanted to know how because I had ripped his heart out of his chest which is said to kill most vampires. Well I guess being the original vampires we have a few advantages.

I pulled Alice close to me by wrapping my arm around her waist. She gave me a confused and we spoke using her telepathy then turned and froze in shock. "Hello Kol." He smirked at Alice. "Hello and who have we here?" He asked licking his lips as his eyes ran over Alice's slender form.

It was my turn to smirk. He didn't know that Alice knew who he was. "You know who I am Kol." Alice stated flatly. He looked shocked. "Yeah I know everything." She spat angrily. I grabbed two glasses of champaigne one for Alice and one for myself knowing Kol wouldn't last long at this rate. "Now if you'll excuse us-" As we started to walk away Kol spoke. "Oh come on Alice please let me have one dance?"

Alice opened her mouth to respond when the hostess voice filled the room. "I'd like to invite everyong to grab a partner and take part in this traditional dance." Alice sighed and looked at me. I nodded and kissed her. "Its alright love. I don't mind if you don't mind." She smiled at me as Kol led her onto the dance floor.

I grabbed a partner and watched as the two talked and Kol talked to her smirking. I wasn't able to here what they said due to the insesent chatter coming from my partner, who happened to be the girl I had ignored earlier. Kol spoke for a while until Alice said a few words and he shut up.

We switched partners and I caught Alice causing her to dip. We then started to dance normally once again. "Kol was trying to persuade me to leave you for him and run away." She said causing me to stiffen. "What did you say?" I asked. She laughed lightly. "I said no because I am in love with you." I smiled as she pressed her lips against mine as I pulled her into me after a turn. Kol gave me a cold glare. He always wants what he can't have.

The dance ended and we found Rebeka and Elijah. Rebeka protested at first but when Alice mentioned the encounter with Kol she almost ran out the door. Beka always hated our little brother but refused to harm him. She was scared of what we might do to him. She wasn't afraid of him but rather was afraid of what he was capable of.

We quickly started to leave but Rebeka and Elijah were unable to walk through the doors to the car. "Fuck! Its a barrier!" Alice cursed. "Then how are we able to leave?" I asked confused. "We're not pure vampires." Alice said. She exhaled deeply. She closed her eyes and I watched as she trembled while holding her hands palm up facing the barrier.

I'm trying to weaken the barrier stand back. I told my siblings and we stepped back. Moments later blood started to drip from her nose. After a few minutes of this she collapsed. I caught her before she hit the floor. "C-come th-through." She whispered. Rebeka and Elijah got through easily receiving nothing but a burn on their arm which healed quickly. I exhaled and delicately wiped away the blood from Alice's nose with a handkerchief.

"I'm alright Klaus. Don't worry." She said standing on her own. "Aw what's wrong? Scared of a few witches Klaus?" We all turned to see Kol who stood mocking us at the end of the steps. "Screw off Kol." Alice said bluntly. "I still don't understand how someone so beautiful can be so stupid? He will end up killing you Alice and you know it." He said smirking. "Maybe Kol, but I'd rather die knowing he loves me than die alone." She said grabbing my hand and pulling me closer to her. She led us down the steps past Kol.

"What if I told you I knew how to break the curse?" I turned to face Kol glaring. "He's telling the truth Klaus." Alice said. "If you told me that? I'd tell you to go screw yourself cause I'd rather die than get your help." Alice stated. I turned to her in shock. "What?" All of us said. Kol even looked surprised. "Klaus his way of breaking the curse uses dark magic. I've read abou it. It may kill us both and anyone involved with it. Dark magic twists everything it touches. It's too risky. No." Alice spun on her heel and walked away. Rebeka followed her with Elijah.

I looked at my little brother for a moment. Klaus don't. I smiled as I turned looking sheepishly at Alice who looked at me with an eyebrow raised. I laughed then walked over to her. "Relax love I wasn't going to ask him." I said nuzzling her neck. "C'mon let's go home." We stepped into the limo. "Mark my words brother: when she dies don't come running to me to save her." Kol said angrily. "Don't worry brother I won't." I slammed the door in Kol's face and we sped back to Alice's apartment.

When we got back to Alice's home she threw herself on her bed. "Ahhhhhh! Why can't we have one damn evening that's normal!" She yelled into her pillow. "Well sorry love but we're not normal." I tried to sound serious and hide my smile but when she looked up at me I couldn't help but smile. I heard the clock strike twelve and Alice sighed.

"Nineteen days to break the curse." I lay down next to her. My face was inches from hers. I undid my tie as she slid off her heels and wipped off her makeup. We quickly changed and lay down together. I wrapped my arms around her pulling her into my chest. "I love you." I whispered against her ear. I felt her look up at me in the dark. "It terrifies me to say this but I love you too." She pressed her soft lips against mine. Then rested her head against my chest once more. "Why does it terrify you love?" "My entire life I've continuously lost people I've loved so telling someone I love them-" "I understand love. I understand." I whispered.

She leaned up and kissed me. My arms encircled her waist. I deepened the kiss and her legs wrapped around my waist. I buried my fingers in her hair and kissed down her neck. She smiled sweetly when she yelped. I pulled away to see Alice writhering in pain. She started to thrash as burns seered her pale skin where I had kissed her. "Alice. Look at me love." She continued to thrash.

All of a sudden she stopped and lay there breathing heavily. "Alice." I whispered softly as I pulled her closer to me. She wrapped her arms around my body as she slowed her breathing. "We're going to get through this Alice. I promise you and we will be together.

She nodded as she fell into a deep sleep. "Sleep well Alice we have lots of work to do love."
