It all happens in slow motion, like its a movie playing out before me. The dust from the tower begins to settle and walkers begin to flow through the break in the wall and into the community. They become louder and louder, the noise almost becoming deafening.
"Everyone get back! Get into your houses! Go!" Rick yells out, beginning to fire at the walkers making their way in.
I pull out my gun and begin to shoot at the walkers that make their way towards us, but there are hundreds upon hundreds making their way through, looking for something to feast on. My wide eyes look around when I feel someone tug on my arm, "Bree come on!" Maggie yells in my ear.
I turn and see her firing at the walkers beside me, shooting them down and we begin to make our way backwards, the walkers converging towards us. I continue to fire my gun until it runs out of bullets, "Shit!" I hiss, tucking it into the waistband of my jeans.
Maggie keeps shooting and I turn, looking for somewhere for us to hide and I see the guard post she was at earlier, "Up there!" I yell, tugging at her arm.
She goes to fire again when we get nothing but a click in return and she hisses, swinging the gun over her back. We turn and begin to make a run for it towards the post, the walkers gaining ground on us. I feel her fall down beside me and I turn to see a walker lunge for her and I kick it back, it falling to the ground. I pull out my knife and stab one, another grabbing onto my arm. I push it back and quickly stab it.
"Let's go!" I yell, pulling Maggie to her feet.
I push her towards the ladder and she begins to climb as quickly as possible. I push the walkers back, them beginning to get too close for comfort. I turn and begin to climb as she making pulls herself up onto the platform. I feel a walker grip at my ankle and I let out a grunt, kicking back at them.
"Bree!" I hear her yell from above me.
They pull against the ladder as hard as they can when it snaps away, my hands gripping onto the edge of the platform. My heart pounds in my chest as my feet swing about below, trying to get footing to pull myself up. Maggie grips at my arms and uses all her strength to pull me up and I get footing at the edge and I pull myself up with her help, the both of us falling back onto the platform.
We both lay back, catching our breath as the walkers swarm around us to look for their next meal. I stare up into the sky, seeing the bunch of green balloons float away up ahead. As I look up at them, oddly enough I feel a sense of hope. It's a sign, meaning Glenn is alive and that could mean that Daryl, Sasha and Abraham are back. They'll help find a way to save us, to get rid of the walkers. I turn to my side and see Maggie looking up ahead at the balloons, her breath fast and shallow. We'll make it through this, I know we will.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I sit back against the wall beside Maggie, the both of us looking around at the walker filled community below us. It's getting dark outside now and we've seen no sign of other people. We've heard a few gunshots and screams, but nothing much more than that. I keep my eye out for a sign, of the others, of Daryl, but I've seen nothing yet. Nothing but the mass of undead walking the streets of Alexandria below us.
"Glenn's coming back and he's going to help us find a way out of this. Daryl too." Maggie says, breaking the silence up on the platform.
I nod my head, "I know, I just hope it's really soon."
