It takes a village

Callie's POV
"What time is it?" Arizona asks breaking the kiss.
"I don't know.. Hm.." I look at the clock outside her bedroom. "It's 4:40 in the morning." I say looking back at her and smiling at her.
"You should go to sleep Callie! It's way to early and you look tired." She said grabbing my hand and kissing it.
"Are you saying that I look bad?" I said kissing her hand and sitting down looking at her.
"No! Just tired. Don't worry I'm not going anywhere" She said laughing.
"No. I'm not falling asleep. Plus I need to page Meredith so she check on you."
"I'm fine Callie, see?" She moved her hands and her feet and put a finger in front of her face and followed it with her eyes from the left to the right then to the left again."
"Yeah, you're perfect but I can't sleep right now. I wanna be with you." I told her.

Arizona's POV
"For how long was I out?" I ask her.
"2 days" Callie said running her thumb on the palm of my hand.
"And you've been here for two days?"
I asked her.
"Yes! Well.. I left to take a shower yesterday and to change clothes, and a couple of hours ago April forgot to bring me a snack so I had to leave to get something from the machine but besides that two times, I have been here every second." She said looking at me now.
I grabbed her hand.
"Callie you need to go home or at least rest here. Please go to sleep. I'm awake now. I'm here." I said squeezing her hand.
"I couldn't leave. I needed to be here when you woke up. I couldn't rest.." She said.
"It's ok. I'm here now. I promise I'll wake you up if I feel something happening. Go to sleep my love. Let me take care of you now." I told her as I kissed her hand. She stood up and kissed me.
"Ok. But I'm here if you need anything." She said putting her head down like it was when I woke up. Just not on the IV wire this time.
She fell asleep holding my right hand and so all I could do was move my left. I looked for my phone and saw it on the night stand. I tried to reach it but it hurt to much. I pushed the bottom to call the nurse.
"What happened? Oh Dr.Robbins you're awake! I'm really glad! I'm going to call Dr.Grey!" She said coming in.
"Thank you! But don't call Meredith, at least not yet! Can you just pass me my phone! It's in the night stand please?"
"Yes! Of course! Do you need anything else?"
"No! Thank you so much!" I said and the nurse left.
I unlocked my phone and texted April.
"Are you awake?"
A few seconds later she responded.
"Arizona???"
"Yes! Who else would it be?"
She called me. I ignored the call.
"Can't talk, Callie is sleeping. Are you home?"
"No, I'm in the on call room. I'm coming to you!"
"Ok! 😘" I wrote back.
Two minutes later I heard someone running in the hall and then she came into my room.
"Hey sweaty" she said coming to hug me.
"Hey!! I missed you!" I said hugging her back with my left hand.
"How are you feeling?" She asked.
"I'm fine! But I need you to do something for me."
"Sure! What do you need?"
"Without causing a scene I need you to call Amelia, tell her it's urgent and that I need her to come right away."
"Arizona what do you need Amelia for?" She asked getting worried.
"My left eye. I can't see a thing, my left foot, I lost movement a few minutes ago and now in my left hand, I can only move two fingers. I'm losing capacities by the minute Aps.." I said. She started to cry.
"No! Shhhh!!!! You're going to wake up Callie! Go call Amelia outside!" I told her.
"Amelia, it's me, I'm calling for Arizona" "No! She just woke up and she's losing capabilities by the second, you need to get here fast!" "Ok. I'll take her to CT" "ok, I'll text you the results so you can get into surgery right away if you need to" "ok! See you!" She came in.
"Amelia is out of her house and coming here. Let's go!" She said and started to unplug my wires to move my bed.
"No! I need to tell Callie!"
"Ok but fast Ar.. The more abilities you lose, the more you have to recover."
I tried to move my right hand under Callie. Fuck, I can't move my right hand.
"Callie? Sweetie?"
She looked up.
"Hey!" She said smiling at me. She then noticed April moving around the room.
"April? Why are you crying? Why are you unplugging her? What's happening?" She said.
"I'm, I'm losing functions Callie, my left eye, my left foot, my right hand.. April called Amelia and she's on her way. April was going to take me to CT now.." I said trying to move my arm to reach hers. She saw my effort and grabbed my right hand.
"It's ok. You're going to be fine!" She grabbed my hand.
"Let's go!" April started to push my bed and Callie walked beside me. "Can you feel this?" She said squeezing my hand.
"Yeah! I can feel that!" She did the same to my foot.
"Ok so you didn't lose full function. It can be temporary, because your body needs to rest some of its parts" she said as we went into CT.

When I was being transferred from the CT gurney to the other I saw Amelia was already here and in her scrubs so I immediately realized I was going to need surgery.
The nurse pushed me out of CT and Amelia came up to me.
"Hey! Good morning!" She said smiling. "Hey!" I responded!" "Ok. No need to worry! The lack of vision in your eye is a bleeding in your brain but it's no big deal, I'm going to stop it in surgery and you should be good to go. In the matter of the lack of function in your arms and feet Callie was right! It's just a temporary thing. It should be gone in a matter of hours as your body rests. Should we go now?" Amelia asked me.
"Yeah! Let's do this!" I responded and smiled!
She kissed my head. "I'm not going to let anything happen to you! I promise!" She reassured me and that really made me feel secure. I looked around to try see Callie. She came running to me from the observation room.
"So Amelia is taking you in but you should be fine. I'm going to be right here when you wake up ok?" She kissed my cheek.
"Ok! Don't wait up!" I said to her as Amelia pushed my gurney.
I got into the OR and Amelia set down next to me.
I looked at her. "Amelia what's wrong?" I asked her.
"I lied Arizona. I couldn't tell Callie the truth! She was so broken when you were in coma. But I have to tell you. As your doctor."
"What ever it is you can tell me. I can handle it!" I said looking at her.
She grabbed my hand.
"The bleeding on you're brain is really really big and so it's going to take a lot of hours to cure it all." She said squeezing my hand.
"It's ok. I trust you Amy! What about my hands and feet. It's not temporary is it?" I asked her.
"I thought it was. I really did. But April thank God did the scan and it reviled that it's your heart that it's not pumping enough blood and it caused damage to you stomach and muscles and so I paged Cristina and Meredith and of course April and they are all coming in. Oh.. Here they are!" She said looking behind her as the three doctors came in.
They all came up to me.
"Thank you all for what you're doing for me."
"It's our jobs Ar.." Meredith said.
"Still.. Thank you for trying to save me and if something happens to me.."
"It won't! I won't let it!" Amelia said.
"Just tell Callie that I love her so much and that I was thinking about her until the end."
"It may take a village but we are your village and we are not going to let anything happen to you!" Cristina said.
I smiled at them and the I fell asleep from the anesthesia.
