Simon:She looked nothing near "peachy". Lucy had a knack of saying things were fine when in reality they weren't. I could see right through the tough exterior she was constantly trying to hold up. She must be tiring of holding people back, pushing them away. I could see the cracks appearing in her façade.
"You don't look very peachy, Luce." Tobi voiced, stepping closer to us.
"I knew there was something wrong with the eggs!" I joked as Lucy wobbled before me. It looked like the third musketeer was going to collapse. She wasn't used to such little sleep, and I had a feeling that she had consumed an excessive amount of V overnight.
"Okay, I think I need to have a wee sit down." Lucy said, her small hands tightly clutching at my arms. She was getting ever paler, her knees bending slightly as she struggled to stand up.
"Luce?" I queried, all jokes aside. She really didn't look very good, and worry was mounting within me. I gently helped her to the ground, where she immediately curled up in the fetal position, still tightly clutching at my arms.
"Luce?" I repeated, gently pushing back some of her flyaway hair that had floated across her face. She looked even worse - how was she looking this bad after a few minutes? I thought it was strange when she asked to be put on the ground - she seemed to be enjoying being up on my back. I was quite enjoying her close company as well.
Now, she was barely responding to my voice as she lay on the ground, eyes closed.
"Is she sleeping?" Tobi asked, crouching down next to me. I shook my head, unsure. Something didn't feel quite right.
"I dunno, I mean we're fine after all this."
"Yea, but we're used to this, she isn't." Tobi replied, giving her shoulder another shake. She didn't respond, her grip on my jumper fading away.
"Luce, come on we need to get home." I said, gently rolling her over. Her body seemed lifeless as she rolled away from me, completely out to the world. How did someone fall asleep so easily? I knew Lucy loved to nap, and could sleep literally anywhere, but she had never fallen asleep so quickly before. I pulled out my phone, vying to turn to Google. Surely the Internet would have an answer to this. It had answers to literally anything.
"Simon, I think something is wrong with her." Tobi exclaimed, making me look up from my phone. My heart leapt into my throat as I noticed what Tobi must have. White foam had appeared at the corner of Lucy's mouth.
"Fuck, doesn't that mean she's eaten something off?" Tobi asked, pulling the unconscious girl to a sitting position.
"We need to get her to the hospital, right now." I said hurriedly, jumping to my feet.
"How far is it from here?" I asked, helping Tobi lift her up. It was only a couple of blocks from here I had thought.
"It's a few streets down." Tobi replied, Lucy leaning heavily on him.
"What about a ambulance?" I thought aloud.
"We can get there just as fast." Tobi responded, struggling to hold up the unconscious Lucy.
"Let's move then." I said, hurriedly swinging Lucy up into my arms. I had absolutely no idea what to do for her. In the movies, when people had white froth coming from their mouth, it was usually a bad sign. It was hard to keep calm, my breaths coming in ragged breaths as I ran faster than I thought possible. The adrenaline was kicking in, allowing me to carry my friend at such a fast speed. People dodged out of our way, skittering to the side as I pelted past them.
