"Do you reckon they will have Netflix on the plane?" Simon asked for possibly the thousandth time, pressing his forehead into the glass windows.
We had arrived at Heathrow airport, surprisingly early for our flight, but now unfortunately had to wait till our flight was boarded. That meant a hour of boredom standing before the large glass windows, watching the bustle of planes taking of round the world.
"Would you shut up about Netflix already?" JJ moaned from behind me. I could just imagine his eyes rolling back in his skull.
"They just added 'Flipped', and I really want to see it again." Simon replied, shrugging at JJ.
"Is that another pussy movie?" JJ asked, making Simons mouth fall open.
I ignored the bickering that began soon after, wandering towards the smitten Cal. He was lounging on the departure waiting chairs, with his long time crush and recently announced girlfriend Ashleigh. And yes, she was a proper girl. Not Cal or any of his other male friends who were pretending to be his romantic interest.
"You'll love LA, I promise." Cal said, his arm around the pretty girls shoulder as he chatted to me.
"I know I will." I gulped as I looked out of the tall airport windows, down at the huge plane we would be sitting in in 10 or so minutes. I could hear the others behind me, jubilant voices wafting through the air. I folded my arms, rubbing my arms as goose bumps rose. It wasn't cold, I was just incredibly worried.
I had only ever been on two planes, the first one that gave me my phobia, and the second to come here, to the UK. After a rather traumatic trip in a helicopter with a glass floor and a drunk pilot, I had been completely put of air travel. I was hoping I could drive, or ferry to places rather than fly. Josh had scoffed. Apparently it would take me months to get from the UK to LA. You can tell I hadn't paid attention in Geography.
" You alright, love?" A voice asked. I glanced up at Simon, who was watching me watch the plane. My throat was tight as I answered.
"Define alright?" I asked, shivering.
" I'll take that as a no, then." Simon replied with a sad smile.
"Cal said you weren't a fan of planes." He added, flicking his eyes at the smitten boy. I moaned, and stared at Cal. He wasn't watching Simon and I's conversation, his eyes instead focused soley on the girl now in his lap. Ashleigh noticed Simon and I's gaze, nudging Cal with a giggle. Cal finally looked my way, and I narrowed my eyes at him. Cal just shrugged with a grin. Typical.
" Cal says a lot of things." I replied as he turned away, distracted by JJ trying to jump the airport seats. I could easily predict that JJ would be regretting this particular life choice in under a minute.
" So does your body language." Simon said. I looked up at him, chortling.
" Are you the mentalist or something?" I asked, one eyebrow raised. Simon shook his head, before gently pulling me back against his chest, his chin resting on top of my head. I was too shocked to breathe as he gently took my hands, rubbing his thumb over the back of my hand. Oh my days, how it felt to be in his arms. Play it cool, Luce. Play it cool.
" I'm actually Sherlock Holmes, but I'm in a disguise right now." He whispered in my ear. I grinned up at him, forcefully rolling my eyes. It was difficult to act normal with the electrifying feelings he was sending over my body.
" See, I got you not thinking about planes." He said proudly, letting go of me. I raised an eyebrow at him, wishing he hadn't moved away.
" And I just lost all my hard work." He said with a sigh. I laughed nervously at his annoyed facial expression.
