Never have I ever thought
that I could leave something behind
if I were to go.
Never have I ever thought
that life could come thrashing at me with a sudden storm
if I were to believe it.
Never have I ever thought
that my own self would stab my back
if I were to really do it.
Never have I ever thought
that my fingertips would mold
if I were to truly pursue it.
Never have I ever thought
that I would turn to my left
if I were to honestly praise it.
Never have I ever thought
that I would thank my misery
if I were to sit down and thank it.
Never have I ever thought
that I would turn to my right
if I were to really die in it.
