Living Situation

Violet: We need to have a little chat.
Cora: I see you've learned how to use your phone.
Violet: I asked Spratt to teach me how to use dictation.
Robert: What is bothering you Mama?
Violet: Darrel hasn't been at Downton for almost two months.
Cora: She's preparing to become a queen.
Violet: You're letting them get what they want.
Robert: Mama, England needs a queen. Wether we like it or not, Darrel needs to be there.
Violet: When you first revealed that you had an affair, Darrel would stay there for two weeks at a time, and then return to Downton for a month. Now, she stays there for several weeks and visits us on weekends!
Cora: I'm glad you've learnt what those are!
Violet: 😑
Robert: What do you expect us to do?
Violet: Talk to the queen. Remind her that we're Darrel's family, not her.
Cora: Unfortunately, they're her family as well.
Violet: At least think of a better share of custody!
Robert: Mama, Darrel is no longer a child. She turned fifteen a week ago, she's old enough to choose where she wants to live.
Violet: They're clearly pressuring her to stay! If you don't do something about it, I will!
Robert: You are to stay well away from this matter. Darrel has clearly stated that she doesn't want us getting involved in her business, and we intend to respect her wishes.
Violet: Very well. But you'll see I'm right soon enough, and then I'll have the satisfaction of saying 'I told you so'.
Cora has removed Violet from the conversation
Cora: I'm going to text Darrel and ask her how to block your mother's number.
Robert: Be nice.
Cora: Are you going to do anything about this?
Robert: I'll text Darrel later today.
Cora: Tell her I want her to come home.
Robert: I shall.
Later that day
Darrel: Papa, there's something important I need to tell you.
Robert: Of course dear, what is it?
Darrel: I've decided to extend my stay in London for another two weeks.
Robert: What? Why?
Darrel: There are so many things that have to be done!
Robert: Can't your brother email you the documents? And you can always TimeFace for meetings.
Darrel: It's FaceTime, and it's better for me to be present for the meetings.
Robert: Are the King and Queen pressuring you again? I can talk to them.
Darrel: Don't worry Papa! I'll see you in a couple weeks.
Robert: Very well. Have fun.
Darrel: Thank you Papa.
Robert has left the conversation
Darrel has added Paul to the conversation
Paul: Was he alright with it?
Darrel: He was worried, but he's okay with it.
Paul: So we'll spend two more weeks in London, and then we can return to Downton together.
Darrel: It seems silly that your mother still has her farm at Downton.
Paul: When they divorced, Father did offer to buy her a house up in London, but she refused.
Darrel: Well I'm glad she did, because then I would never want to go to Downton.
Paul: I ❤️ you Darrel.
Darrel: I ❤️ you 2.
