Phoebe's POV

I feel cold next to me and my eyes pop open. The space next to me, where my boyfriend should be, is empty. I'm used to him leaving kind of early, but last night we went all the way and I thought he'd stay late. Just as I sit up, I see him pulling all of his clothes on.

"Morning Phoebe." He says quietly.

"Morning? Is that really some way to greet the girl you slept with for the first time last night?" I ask.

"Oh. Morning." He says emotionless and my eyebrows furrow.

"Dylan?" I ask and he looks up.

"Hm?" He asks.

"Why are you so skittish?" I ask him and he gulps.

"Nothing. I just have to go...now." He says.

"Wait. Why do you always leave early? I mean, seeing what happened last night, I thought you were going to stay for breakfast." I say and he shakes his head.

"I'll take you out tonight. I promise. See you later babe." He says and kisses me. Two seconds later, he's out the door. Well that was weird. Two months with the guy and his work schedule is so crazy. He's worth the compromise, though. I liked him a lot. Last night proved that fact.

"Hey guy-where is Dylan?" Rebecca, my roommate, asks.

"Work." I complain and suddenly realize that the only thing covering my body is a comforter. I feel like hiding in front of my best friend.

"Oh my gosh Phoebe! Are you naked under there?" She asks and my face goes beet red.

"Shut up Rebecca." I say and she laughs.

"Oh get dressed! In case you forgot, it's Monday and you have to get to work already." She says and closes the door behind her. I get up out of bed and head to my dresser drawer. The drawer stalls and I have to yank it several times before it finally pops open. I pick out my work polo for Dean's Book Shop and a pair of black skinny jeans. I throw my essentials on and take a quick walk to the bathroom. Rebecca hasn't seen me yet. Thank god.

"Morning slut." She says from the kitchen just as my hand touches the bathroom door. I put my head down and blush.

"Shut up." I whine.

"Fine. I grill you on it more later. Go get ready for work." She says and she barely finishes the sentence before I get into the bathroom and lock the door.

"So, I have to go to work. Bye." I say once I'm out of the bathroom. I'll be ten minutes early and I'm praying she won't notice that.

"Hey speed racer! Get in the kitchen now." She says and I turn around slowly.

"What?" I ask.

"Was it good?" She asks and I blush.

"Yes." I almost whisper.

"Like really good?" She asks and I roll my eyes.

"You're acting like I've never had sex before." I tell her and she laughs.

"You seem to like the boy a lot Phoebe. You think he's worth the time?" She asks and I nod quickly.

"He's amazing." I say and jump on the counter. She hands me a cup of coffee and I take a big gulp.

"Why did he rush out so fast this morning?" She asks.

"Work." I say.

"He works every day. Even on the weekends." She says.

"Yeah. He's kind of like a doctor in training, so he has to get home, get ready, and race to work." I tell her.

"Ooo a doctor!" She teases.

"Shit I'm going to be late." I say and rush to the coat rack. I grab my fleece and pray November isn't going to be too cold.

"You could get your jacket on easier if you weren't holding a coffee mug." She says and I grumble. She takes it from me as I fix my coat.

"You have to get to work too miss teacher's assistant. I still don't get how you're great with teenagers and at teaching them technology skills." I say and she smiles.

"I'm not that great and I don't teach them, I help them understand it after the idiot Mr. Parks doesn't teach it right. he doesn't get that we aren't on Microsoft Windows 1.0 and no one can tell him that because he gets so mad at us!" She says and I smile.

"The job will be yours before you know it Rebecca." I tell her and she smiles.

"Alright I have to go to work. Thanks for the coffee." I tell her and she nods.

"My pleasure. I make you coffee every other morning." She says and I nod. I head out the door and down the hall. Time to face the cold. Instead, I face my neighbor who's never in town and who I presume to be one of his friends.

"Hey! You're in town!" I say and he nods.

"This is Phoebe, she lives across the hall." Harry says and I stick my hand out. The guy ignores it and heads upstairs. Well okay.

"Louis she's our neighbor! You could at least say hi!" He shouts up the stairs. The boy turns around and waves his hand rudely before turning around.

"Sorry. He's been an ass lately. How's it going?" He asks and I shrug.

"Pretty good. I'm late for work though. Gotta run! Talk to you later Harry." I say and walk out the door. Holy shit it's cold outside.

Harry only comes in the building once and awhile because he's always on tour. I'm guessing the Louis he was yelling at was his bandmate that used to live with him. That was a few years ago, though, before Rebecca and I lived here. We moved in about a year ago. Harry generally goes home during breaks, but I guess he wanted to stay here. I always tell him he should get a nicer apartment, but he says this is his comfort level. Hopefully the Louis guy will find it the same instead of being a miserable prick for no reason. I look up and see I'm at Dean's. Time for work.
