Phoebe's POV
I jump into my car and get ready to head to the high school. It's been a few years now, but I remember the way. My little Thomas was going to look really different and I wasn't ready. It's been years since I saw the little brown haired boy. He's a teenager now, and now I had a kind of younger sister, as well. I had two people to impress now. The high school comes into view. I'm here just four minutes earlier than the bell rings for them to leave. I cut the ignition and step out of the car. My arms propel me onto the trunk of the car as I wait. I wasn't as nervous as I was when I went in to see my mum, but I was nervous still. I watch the entrance for a familiar face. A boy walks out with a tall, black haired girl and they head to a car. That must be Dahlia. I grin comes across my face.
"Thomas!" I shout. His head turns and he squints at me before a look of utter shock shows up on his face.
"Phoebe?" He mouths and smiles. He starts booking it toward me. I do the same toward him, with open arms and I hug him tightly when we finally meet.
"What are you doing here? When did you get here? How did you-Mum and Dad are going to kill you that you're here and-"
"Thomas, it's alright. Mum knows I'm here." I tell him.
"She does?" He asks.
"Yes, and she was fine with me coming to get you." I say. He hugs me again making me laugh.
"Hey Tom, who's the girl?" Some guy shouts.
"My sister, Jake." Thomas says.
"I didn't know you had a sister." The guy says before walking away.
"Was the girl you were walking with Dahlia?" I ask Thomas and look for the girl.
"Mum told you about her?" He asks and I nod.
"She's from Italy. She's nice." He says.
"Look at you! You're so handsome now, no more baby faced boy." I tell him.
"Gross, Phoebe." He says and I laugh.
"I'm serious!" I say. I look up and see a girl awkwardly standing a ways away from us.
"Hi, you must be Dahlia." I say. She nods slowly and smiles at me.
"She's shy, so she might not talk to you at first." Thomas whispers.
"I'm Phoebe, Thomas's sister. I take it he's been a pain in the butt?" I ask her. She laughs at me.
"Hey, you're not even back for five minutes and you're already teasing me." He says.
"That's what I'm here for." I tell him.
"Well, we missed our bus, I'm hoping you have a ride?" He asks.
"Yes I have a ride, Thomas. C'mon, Dahlia, we can head back." I say and she smiles at me.

"So what made you show up?" Thomas asks me once we hit the street.
"Well, I have a few friends who talked me into it. I was too scared before they both kind of talked me into it. One person really did, when he barely knew the story and he already told me I should visit home." I say.
"He?" My brother asks.
"Yeah, he, as in a boy." I say.
"A boyfriend?" He asks and I know what he's getting at.
"Yeah, my boyfriend." I say.
"Oh what's his name?" He asks.
"Louis." I say.
"Fancy." Thomas says.
"He's a real nice guy and you might know him." I say quietly.
"How? I only know a Lewis and he's like thirteen." My brother says and I laugh.
"Well Louis is twenty one-"
"Going for the younger men." My brother cuts me off and tsks at me.
"Thomas let me finish!" I say as we pull into the driveway.
"His name is Louis and he's in a band called One Direction." I say.
"What?" He asks and his tone is unclear.
"I hear enough about them at school and now I hear it at home." He says.
"I don't plan to talk about him that much. I just figured I'd fill you in." I say.
"Well I hope he's nice or else." He says and I laugh.
"You're like twelve." I joke.
"Fifteen bitch." He curses.
"Hey! Chill with the language little punk. Does mum know you talk like that?" I ask once I pull into the driveway.
"No." He grumbles.
"Then don't let her catch you." I say. I wait for Dahlia to get out of the car to lock it. Then, we head inside.
"How was school kids?" My mum asks the two. I hear Dahlia mumble a good while Thomas starts talking about some microscope in biology class that his friend broke.
"Poor Casey." My mum says.
"Hm?" I ask and I realize it's a mistake when she starts going in about how Casey Keegan had just moved to town and was Thomas's Bio teacher with all the punks and some other good kids. It was a bunch of rambling on about it until the front door opened to reveal my dad.
"Well this is a surprise." He says and stares at me.
"Hi." I say quietly and stand up from the table.
"I hope you aren't here looking for money or-"
"No, just wanted to see you guys. I have my own place, and a good job, don't worry." I tell him.
"Well then come here!" He says. I hug him tightly.
"College?" He asks.
"Paying it off." I answer.
"Job? Home? Boyfriend?" He asks.
"Book store. Flat with my roommate Rebecca. Yes, Louis." I answer.
"Where's this Louis?" He asks.
"He's at his place with his flat mate." I answer.
"Well, we'll have to meet him sometime won't we?" He says.
"Yes." I say.
"How long do you plan to stay?" My dad asks.
"Up until Christmas, I'll be gone on the twenty-sixth, unless you need me to leave earlier." I tell him.
"Well then, we better catch up, all of us. I think the twenty-sixth is fine Phoebe. A few days to be a family." He says. It sounds great to me.
