Louis's POV
She seems to be thinking hard about something, so I leave her. I take a sip of the beer in my lap. I guess it was nice of her to let me in. She's not as bad as I thought she was. I think Harry fancies her. I'll have to ask him. I don't fancy her. That's one sure thing in my mind right now. The only person I want is Eleanor.
"People move on for a reason." She says and her voice catches my senses.
"Yeah, but I love her." I say and she nods.
"Yeah, but maybe you should get out there. Even if it's just a date with a person you don't fancy, just get back out there. If you're meant to be a pair, then you will be." She says and I shrug.
"Yeah, but when these two break up, I am chasing back to her. I will keep tabs and figure out how to get her back." I say and her eyes widen.
"That's a bit strange." She says.
"I'm dedicated to my girlfriend." I say.
"Ex girlfriend." She says back and I roll my eyes.
"She has to still love me. I love her." I say and find it weird that I'd admit this to an utter stranger.
"What if they don't break up?" She challenges me.
"They will." I retort.
"I'm just saying when they don't, what are you going to do?" She asks.
"They will. Why are you so interested in me getting over this girl? Are you trying to get me to go out with you?" I ask and she laughs. She laughs meanly and I get confused.
"What?" I ask.
"I have a boyfriend. I have no interest in you anyways." She says and stands up from the arm of the couch.
"So why are you interested in my love life?" I ask.
"Because it isn't healthy for a person to be this obsessed with an ex. Especially when they've moved on. That's how restraining orders are made." She says from the kitchen.
"I feel fine." I lie and take a big gulp of beer.
"I met you this morning and I can tell you're exhausted on the inside. Your eyes are surrounded by dark circles and your entire outlook on things is just so bleak. You wouldn't even shake my hand this morning. You know what, forget it." She says and I sigh. Before I can say anything back there's a knock at the door.
"Food!" A girl's voice shouts followed by a giggle.
"Open the door!" Harry shouts after. Phoebe opens it and the two burst through the door.
"We brought Chinese. We ate some in the car, but who cares. Louis want any food? Phoebe?" Rebecca asks and I hop off of the couch.
"Hey! That's my beer." Rebecca says and glares at Phoebe and me.
"She gave it to me." I say and Phoebe sighs.
"Sell out." She grumbles and the blonde girl laughs.
"It's fine. It was going to be for a work picnic. Some team building thing at a rock climbing place." Rebecca says and my brow raises.
"It's mid November." I point out and she nods.
"Yeah it was supposed to be in August, but it keeps getting pushed off." She says.
"Where do you work?" I ask.
"I'm an assistant tech teacher." She says.
"How old are you?" I ask.
"Twenty-one." She says.
"When's you're birthday?" Harry asks.
"December tenth." She says.
"So many December babies." Harry says and Phoebe smiles.
"Then there's lame Mr. February." I say and Harry rolls his eyes.
"Shut up Christmas baby." He retorts.
"Harry can I have the key?" I ask.
"Why?" He asks and the two girls stare at me funny.
"I'm kind of tired." I lie. Harry sees it, but just sighs.
"We can go make you a key tomorrow morning." He says and I quickly leave before anyone can tell me otherwise. I burst through the door at Harry's and jump on the couch. The couch came from some old furniture store. I do remember picking it out three years ago. Harry wanted the horrendous leather one. To this day I think he was joking, but who knows with that boy? I picked out this one and he just went along with it. It's a tan couch with deep cushions. It's unbelievably comfortable and I know Harry always liked this one more. This was the best choice. I take out my phone and decide I should call my mum. I haven't heard from her in a few days.
"Louis?" Her voice asks and I smile.
"Hi." I say.
"How's it going? Did you talk to El yet? I never got the call back." She says and I sigh.
"She has a boyfriend now and I think they live together." I say.
"Oh. Well, it has been about a year now. When did you see her?" She asks.
"I went to talk to her and both of them answered the door." I say.
"Oh Louis. I guess you better move on too then. She was such a sweet girl, but she just wasn't the one." She says and I frown.
"I really thought she was." I say and hear my voice break.
"Just forget about it okay? I know you loved her, but just keep moving up and if she comes back one day, you make the next move. Don't let her control you alright? Just keep moving forward. You can't live in the past." She says.
"It's been only two days since I found out." I explain.
"Louis, it's been a year. I'm sorry, but she wasn't going to be waiting there for you. You should have guessed that. It's a bit mad that you didn't." Her voice says critically.
"I'm going to miss her." I say.
"I know, but there's going to be a girl one day." She says. I'll just tell her I agree with her. I don't, though. I really don't. I love Eleanor and this idiot just has to get out of her flat. Better yet, he can stay there. Eleanor can move back in with me.
"Louis? Did you hear me?" She asks.
"Yeah. Sorry. Harry's place has a bad connection." I lie.
"Why are you there?" She asks.
"Oh I'm living with him for a bit. He thinks it'll help me get out of this funk or whatever." I say and hear her laugh.
"I'll have to tell Anne he said that. You two are too funny. Have fun with your new old roommate." She says.
"Love you. Bye." I say.
"Love you too Louis. Bye." She says and hangs up. I'll just tell her I'm getting better. I don't want her to worry. I just need to get Eleanor back and this will all be normal. It'll make sense again.
