Louis's POV

I finish my sentence and Phoebe cringes. I probably shouldn't have mentioned that she might be on the news. She runs away from me and stops in front of the trash can. What the-oh.

"Shit are you alright?" I say. My hand goes up to rub her back and I pause before I do.

"Peachy." She says and turns around. Her makeup is run down her eyes and she wipes her face. I leave my hand on her back and try to comfort her as much as I can.

"Can we leave?" She asks and I nod.

"Of course." I say. I debated hitting the bloke in there, but I don't want a scene. I mean, one was already made and the push didn't feel good, but why make it worse? I guide Phoebe across the street and help her in the car. The ride back is silent besides her quiet sobs. She stares out the window and I look over and see her reflection several times. On the way here we didn't hit one red light. Now, it seemed we were hitting every one. I hear her huff and sigh at every one. When we finally get back she races out of the car and walks quickly upstairs. I lock the car door and follow her. She's fumbling with her keys. I walk up the stairs and take them from her. The door opens for me and she walks quickly in.

"Do you want me to stay?" I ask and she shrugs.

"If you want. I've got nothing better to do." She says and wipes her eyes.

"Fucking mascara. I probably look like shit." She mumbles.

"You look fine. Do you need anything at all?" I ask.

"Rebecca and a hug." She whispers and and starts taking her boots off. Once she removes her coat, I go over and tap her shoulder.

"I'm no Rebecca, but I'll still give you a hug. Come here." I say and her lip quivers. She trips into my arms and I hug her. She's shaking and crying. I can't imagine how she must feel. Her sobbing continues for several minutes until there's a noise at the door.

"I'm beat!" Rebecca's cheerful voice goes off and she turns to Phoebe and I.

"What-What's happened?" She asks and looks at both of us.

"Dylan's engaged." Phoebe whispers and Rebecca's face drops.

"What do you mean?" She asks.

"What I just said. I know you're blonde, but are you deaf as well?" Phoebe snaps and leaves my arms.

"Phoebe...just tell me exactly what happened." Rebecca says.

"I walked in...gave him a kiss on the cheek. Oh my god! I kissed him in front of his fiancé! I'm the other woman. I can't believe-"

"Phoebe. Finish the thought." Rebecca says and Phoebe continues.

"He has a fiancé and I'm the other woman....He didn't defend either one of us. He just stood there. Then I felt like I was going to throw up, the fiancé woman said that I sleep around to try and find love. I just froze on the inside and died a little." She says and I stare at the broken girl. How could a person do that?

"Oh." Rebecca says and hugs her friend tightly. If I'm not mistaken, the blonde is crying as well.

"Are you both alright?" I ask.

"Yeah. Thank you, but I want to be alone. I'm just going to go to bed." She says. I nod and walk out the door. This is when I should turn back and say something to make her feel better, but nothing comes to mind. I just leave her there with Rebecca and got to my own place.

*

I was laying on my bed and the kink in neck seemed to become more apparent than it was before. I rubbed the sore spot and thought about Phoebe. She must be going insane. I stared at the ceiling and couldn't bring myself to fall asleep. I kind of knew just across the hall, Phoebe was miserable. I didn't know why it bothered me. All I can think about is what she's going to do? Is she just going to pop back up and be the fun girl I've gotten to know, or will she end up like me. Holy shit. If she ends up like me, she'll be miserable. At least I realized it, but what if she doesn't? I hope Rebecca can help her because I don't know if I can.
