Of course charlie didn't sleep through the night. Why would she? If she couldn't do it in a bed, there was no way in hell she could do it on the forest floor.
Bear had managed to scrounge up some edible plants, meanwhile, she got a fire going. That was probably a little more important tonight than a shelter. Seeing as the sky was clear, they would need a fire more than anything to keep them warm. No offense, but she was not spooning with bear anytime soon.
Just the idea sent her mind back to Thomas. As she lay on the sand next to the fire, she stared up at the night sky knowing that Thomas might just be doing the same. As wierd as it sounded, this show had to be perfect for her right now.
It gave her a chance to be alone, to get some space. It would give her a chance to fully figure out her feelings for Thomas. Of course there was something there, there always was. But taking action on it now just seemed too risky. They are just wrapping up the end of the first movie, and that meant there were plenty more to come.
If things didn't play out the way they hope, it would just make for an awkward time on set for everyone. Her job and her friends were the main priority there.
Thomas was an understanding guy too. He knew what her job meant to her and how important it would be to be coherent on the set. But the feelings she had for him would never just slip away. It was something she hadn't felt in a guy before. To her, many were friends. Dylan, Chris, Norman, Andy. But with Thomas? With Thomas she wanted so much more. And that's why she wanted to wait.
Their careers were too much right now. And with the feelings she had towards him, in no way shape or form would she want to ruin them with the stresses of their job.
Feeling content with her thoughts, she closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Gradually her mind went back to her family.
She would need to make a trip home soon. Missing her grandfather was never easy on her or him. And these next three days not being able to call him was going to drive her absolutely mad. Alot could happen in three days, so much could go wrong.
Dwelling on it now though would not help. He was in good hands while she was gone, she would just have to be back as soon as possible.
As her mind carried on and on, she breathed evenly listened to the water wash on the shore ahead of them. It wad. A beautiful island, the scenery, the cool night air. Who knows? Maybe she would come back here to visit. Just, with her own luggage, a hotel room, and maybe even some civilized food. But hey, it was all part of the adventure right?
-----------------------------------------------------------
It was around three in the morning and Thomas was still staring at the screen. Nothing much was going on in the live broadcast, but he still watched anyway. She wasn't sleeping, but that wasn't much of a shock.
Instead, she lay on the sandy shore looking upwards to the sky. He could only imagine the thoughts racing through her head. Sometimes she would do it on set. Her eyes locked somewhere before her, body still, and mind just going. Never did he really ask what she was thinking though.
As minutes ticked by, Thomas was slowly beginning to drift off to sleep. She must be worried sick about her grandfather, the thought never really occurred to him.
But then he realized, he had his number. In the morning, maybe just to ease the tension off him and Charlie somehow, he would call and make sure he was doing okay. She did it everyday, but being halfway across the glove without a phone, she couldn't really do that right now.
Thomas would take charge and do it for her.
Anyways, he figured he better get to know the guy. By all means, the thought never occurred to him that maybe, just maybe, they would be seeing a lot of eachother in the future.
Charlie as a unique person. A person he couldn't believe hadn't been snatched up already. She was kind, funny, smart, and downright adorable. But most of all, she was strong willed.
He would make her his one day. But for now, he knew the time wasn't right.
They were both actors though. Working on films would forever be their life... so in all honesty, would there ever be a right time?
----------------------------------------------------------There was a break on set the next morning, and it consisted of everyone crowding around a tv to watch their friend hiking up a cliff.
Meanwhile, in the background, Thomas paced back and forth as his phone rang. Eventually, woody picked up. "Thomas son? What can I do for you?"
"Oh nothing Mr. Sanders. I just figured since Charlie can't check up on you for the time being. I would. Maybe help her out a little bit."
"Oh dont you worry about me. But that's very nice of you. I also heard about what you and your friends did for charlie. I am very grateful she has you."
Smiling, Thomas looked back to the screen to see charlie climbing higher and higher up a ridge line freely. "We are too. She's a great girl. Are you watching?"
"Haven't turned it off. Charlie was always one for the outdoors, but I have a feeling she has bit off a little more than she cna chew this time."
"Well hopefully she's not afraid of heights." Reaching the top, charlie was helped up by bear.
Woody chuckled from the other end. "no no shes okay with heights. There isn't very much the girl wouldn't do. Did she ever tell you on her eighteenth birthday she mad end take her skydiving?"
"No! Are you kidding me?!"
"Absolutely not. She loved it, went three more times after."
Thomas shook his head. "unbelievable. Well, I'll let you get back to watching. If you need anything, you have my number."
"Will do son. Thank you."
"Not a problem."
"Oh and Thomas?"
"Yes?"
There was a slight pause. "make sure you and your friends wait until the end. I have a feeling you'll all be in for a surprise."
