Cracking her eyes open, Charlie let her eyes focus to the dark room. The familiar smell, the outlines of furniture, and the overall atmosphere was enough for her to recognize where she was. Sam's always felt like home no matter what building they were staying in.
Sitting up, she swung her feet over the side of the couch and let her head rest in her hands. She didn't have to look at the clock to know that it was early.
The loss of warmth caught her attention through her drowsy state, so turning to her left she took in Thomas. His hair was wild, arm behind his head, and the other resting on where she used to be. At first it felt natural waking up to this, but with another second, she knew that it wasn't. At least not yet it wasn't.
With a silent breath, she rose to her feet and looked over towards the rest of the group. They were all passed out like normal. Someone this time however, had managed to get up and turn off the TV for themselves. This left Charlie alone in silence. Their steady breathing quietly sounded from across the room, but Thomas's was the most pronounced to her.
In this moment, she could watch him all she wanted. There was no one else to look at her wired, or take it in any wired way. Right now, it was just her and him.
Bending over quietly, she took away the picture book from beside him and placed it back on the coffee table. She wasn't surprised in the least bit seeing that he didn't move.
For the longest time, she grabbed a hold of her loose ponytail and tried thinking straight. It was a wired feeling being up at such a late hour. Right now however, her thoughts were flooded with a completely new feeling. She didn't feel tired, she didn't feel alone, Charlie felt something different. She felt a need.
Stepping towards Thomas, she moved his hand slightly so it hung off the side of the couch. Again, he didn't move.
"Thomas." She whispered as a warning. However, he didn't move again.
So, smiling slightly, she threw one leg on one side of his body and her other on the opposite. Once straddling, she sat down and he shifted slightly. The man was a heavy sleeper, and it couldn't make it harder for her to hold in her laughter.
Whispering his name again, she grabbed a hold of his cheek and let her hand place itself on the other side. Thomas' face scrunched up as he slowly began coming to from his slumber. "Charlie?" He mumbled but still didn't open his eyes.
It was enough though. Without a second thought, she held his jaw tighter and pressed her lips to his. Thomas stopped moving immediately, and with it ceased his breath.
She didn't ask for permission, deepening the kiss she hugged him tighter with her legs. Something sparked inside Thomas waking him immediately. So, he grabbed ahold of her hip and back and pulled her closer. They didn't break once, each one letting out breath after breath. Not even when he gripped her tight and flipped her onto her back.
There, he climbed above her and let his hands roam. With each passing second they molded further and further into one another. Both silent and careful knowing that their friends could wake at any moment.
Once out of breath, Thomas pulled back and rested his forehead against hers. Never before had he wanted anything more, but never before had the timing been so wrong. "Charlie..." He whispered closing his eyes.
Smiling lightly, she whispered. "shut up." Then pulled his lips against hers once more. This time they were soft, fluid, slow, and gentle. It calmed him gradually, but the thoughts racing through his head never went away.
As soon as they settled though, Thomas regained his spot back on the couch and she curled up practically on top of him. "Your timing is absolutely terrible Charlotte." He whispered down to her.
"I'm known for it."
Thomas earned a swift slap against the chest for his response. But it was all worth it, because unlike the last time Charlie went back to sleep with a smile on her face.
