Wedding Bells

           A week later

It was noon and we (the girls) all made plans to meet at a small café to further plan Kate's wedding as well as mom's. I was the first arrive out of the six of us, everyone was on time...except for Leslie of course.

"What the- Leslie you're late!" Kate said bouncing Eva on her knee.

"Sorry. Someone slept over."

"Wow...well uh" Kate paused waiting for one of us to say something.

"Ok well we have three weeks before this wedding." Mom continued.

I took Eva from Kate while she drew out what dress designs they wanted for the bridesmaids.

"Remind me again why you guys are getting married a week apart from each other?" Aidy said taking a sip from her frappé.

"Because I'll be the size of a whale if I wait any longer, this baby is already pretty big and incase you are blind, so am I"

"You're beautiful Ness, not huge at all"

Two weeks later

"Holy shit Kate, you're committed" Cecily said fluffing her dress.

"I know, a-am I crazy?"

"Not at all, you look gorgeous" mom straightened Kate's veil and looked over her shoulder to the large mirror in front of her.

"I can't help but..."

"But what Kate?"

"Nothing, never mind."

They decided to have the ceremony in the studio, where they first met. We all went out like rehearsal the night before and followed the basic wedding script until it was Kate's turn to say I do..."and do you Kathryn McKinnon Berthhold take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband?" The pastor's voice rang through the studio with an echo.

"I-I-I'm so sorry Beck, I don't know what the hell I was thinking, I'm not straight, I'm not bi, I'm GAY. I love you I really do and I know I led you on big time, the baby, you moving in, I don't know why I thought I could spent the rest of my life tangled I an unhappy mistake. That night we...did stuff, i was drunk and so were you. I'm not saying that Eva was a mistake because she's the best damn thing that's ever happened to me but I just can't stay with you forever, I-I get it if you hate me. Sorry for wasting your time." Kate walked out and we were to shocked to even go after her. I tried chasing her but when I I went to the dressing room all I found was her dress and a note with a short note laying on the makeup desk.

Dear friends,
I am so sorry I couldn't follow through with the wedding, I am taking a break. I promise I'll be back by Vanessa's wedding. I love you. Don't forget about me.

Everyone else filled the room looking for any clues Kate could have left hinting to where she went. "Guys" Mom interrupted the panicked chatter between everyone else and I. "I know where she is"

"Well let's go!" Cecily yelled pulling a drawer open.

"I need to go by myself." She wiped a tear from her eye and started out the door.

"Im gonna follow her" I pulled off my cream colored heels and ran like hell trying to catch up to her. I followed her from my car all the way to some random spot on the side of the road in front of some trees. When I got out of my car mom was was still sitting in hers most likely contemplating what the hell was going on. I knocked in the car window and motioned for her to roll it down. "Where is she" I whisper yelled.

Mom just stepped out of her car and onto the road not saying a word. I followed her through the woods until we reached a treehouse... "Kate?" I shouted hoping she would answer me

"Go away!" She popped her head out of the 'window' and yelled.

I climbed the latter praying that I wouldn't fall back and break something, mom followed not far behind me. "Kate."

"Vanessa." Kate said with a bitchy tone.

"What happened back there? You seemed so excited!"

"I-I met somebody Ness" when those words came out of Kate's mouth our eyes got ten times bigger.

"WHAT?!"

"I really like her guys"

"Who Kate, who is it?"

"Her name is Lyla. She's amazing, she's got an amazing body, face, personality, you name it"

"Did you sleep with her?" Kate fell silent in response to the question. "Kate!"

"What it's not like things with me and Beck would work anyway"

"You didn't even try Kate, how the fuck could you know?"

"Because I'm gay Vanessa! I'm not straight and guess what! He's got a dick and that's one of the few things I don't enjoy!"

"Y'know what, it's fine. I want you to be happy, we all do."

"Thanks Ness."

"No problem Katiebug."

"I told you I hate that nickname!"

"Ah no you don't".

I didn't really say much of anything for the rest of the evening, I just let them have their moment.
