I opened my eyes to find my mom asleep on the side of my arm. I looked around and saw white everywhere. I was wearing a white gown and this sticky thing connected to my arm. I snapped myself back to reality and told myself I was in a hospital, but why?

"Mom?" I said just to assure myself to know I wasn't hallucinating.

"Dawn honey? You're awake!" she said confused but then reassured herself giving me tight hug, she saw the pain in my eyes so she apologized and backed off. I was happy to see my mom, sometimes she makes me feel secure, well most the time. I guess I take her for granted sometimes. I mean c'mon I rarely even see her.

"Mom, what am I doing here? Where are Mac and Nalani? What's happening?" I said as the panicking in my voice showed the more I talked.

"Honey everything's fine. Do you not remember anything?" She asked.

"No..did Nalani or Mac tell you anything that happened?"

"They both told me, here ly back and just get comfortable this may take a little while."

There were so many questions rushing through my mind but I decided to let my mom explain and maybe that would lessen my anxiety.

"You tell me if you remember and if you do tell me if it's correct." Mom stated and I nodded. "You and the girls were getting coffee at the Aroma Mocha is that correct?"

"Yeah but that's about all I remember besides getting into the car and then hearing Nalani and Mac's voices telling me to wake up." I replied.

"Now here's the rest.."

"You were all in the car heading to drop Mac and Nalani off when you reached a stop light, you went to grab your coffee and the light turned green the car behind you honked and you spilled coffee everywhere trying to get stuff in control. you were trying to clean the mess and drive when you went off route and hit a pole, I don't think you were listening to a word Nalani or Mac were saying because they were yelling at you to watch out, the car bumped in the front and the side of the car you hit your head on the steering wheel then we rushed you to the hospital. Your left arm is slightly sprained and will take two weeks to heal. Everything will be alright." My mom finished.

"Are Nalani and Mac here?" I asked impatiently.

"Mac's in the waiting room and Nalani is in..another room."

I was confused and actually a little scared. I knew Mac would also make me feel better. "Mom..can Mac come in?"

"Sure thing hun..I'll go get her" My mom brought in Mac, she came running and gave me a soft hug knowing if she squeezed me too hard it would hurt. she didn't pile me with questions she knew from the look in my eyes that I myself had no idea of what was going on.

"Mac..where's Nalani?" I asked.

"Oh I just saw her! Are you sure you want to see her Dawn.." She asked biting her bottom lip.

"Positive" I said. But actually unsure in my mind, I mean everything happens for reason all will be fine.

"Okay then just gimme a sec." Mac knocked on the door looking like she was pulling in something.

She came in with her back facing me and then turning around with another familiar face a little below her.

It was Nalani.

In a wheelchair.
