Dawns POV

I woke up the next morning to a curious face. I squinted to make out the face out.

"K-Kayden?" I guessed unsure of who was in front of me.

"Guess again, Sweetheart." the familiar voice replied.

"James!" I threw my arms around him and he returned the hug. Hey, don't blame me I didn't have my glasses.

"I should get straight to the point Dawn." James said scratching the back of his neck, clearly uncomfortable.

"Yeah, what's up?" I asked coolly.

"Mac and Nalani weren't lying last night." He said still avoiding my eyes.

"James I am not discus-" He cut me off. Well okay then James.

"We are Dawn." He said sternly looking into my eyes now.

"Kayden has been your best friend since fourth grade. You guys had nicknames for each other I can't exactly put my finger on it. Mac, Matt, and I used to make sand castles while you both sat on a bench flying kites and teasing each other. Believe it or not you trusted him and he trusted you." He paused to let it sink in, then continued.

"Sure he has the rep of the schools playboy but that happened after the year you moved for about 6 months. He couldn't stand not having his bestfriend so he became the heartless playboy. If you think I'm lying you're definitely thinking wrong. I wouldn't be hear wasting my breath. Kayden trusts you more than he trusts anyone. Even me. The dare was to recall your memory. Even if he doesn't admit it. He trusts you, and cares for you." James got up to leave after finishing.

"Sweetums and Munchkin" I softly muttered underneath my breath.

"Huh" James stopped in his tracks.

"Our nicknames.." I answered.

"So you remember?" James asked.

"Not everything, but it's starting to come back, I hope." I muttered the last two words under my breath. I felt bad. Bad for not remembering Kayden. Bad for accusing everyone of lying.

**

Kayden and I went out for frozen yogurt and I apologized for accusing him. He reminded me of all the fun times we had. Some rang a bell and others I couldn't remember. Though one thing I remembered. 'Sweetums and Munchkin'

"Sweetums do I have the pleasure of taking my girlfriend to the Masquerade Ball?" He asked with a smug grin.

I sighed. "You'd find a way to make me go anyways so, sure Munchkin."

"W-what" Kayden choked on his frozen yogurt and I couldn't help but laugh hysterically.

"You remember the nicknames?" He asked with SHOCK written all over his face.

"Yes, Munchkins. Now shouldn't we break up?" I asked taking a bite of my tart yogurt.

"But this is fun." Kayden drawled. I gave him the look.

"Fine we will, but at least lets try it, you know have a little fun."

"What the heck is wrong with you." I said in between laughs shaking my head.

"I see you still don't curse." He stated.

"Not aloud at least." I muttered.

'What was that Sweetums?" Kayden asked

"Oh nothing." I replied with an innocent smile.

"Well you should probably call up the girls because you need to go shopping." He said.
