This is all my fault, this is all my fault I kept thinking to myself.

There was something salty on my lip.

I touched it, it was a tear, a load of them. My mom and Mac left to give me and Nalani time to talk.

Nalani wheeled over to me.

(never thought I would say that, or atleast think it.)

"Hi Dawn," Nalani said with her comforting smile, it had always made me smile. "

I know you're worrying and I don't want you to, you'll be out've this place in no time a week tops." She said smiling putting her hand in mine for comfort, then she looked down and a frown came upon her face but then quickly changed moods not to fear me. I had finally managed to get a word out.

"And what about you..?" I could hear my voice shake. "

Maybe two" she replied doing the same thing..looking down and back up. Two what, months, days, years, I worried. Then I realized I was going into my crazy imagination again. She had meant weeks. But why, what had I done so bad that it hurt one of my closest friends.

"Nalani I'm so sorry, I honestly don't remember anything," Though I wish I did.

"I'm gonna come every day with your spice latte and a Will Smith movie promise." I said knowing how much she'd love her Will Smith movies. She laughed in return, I got her to laugh I thought and that made me laugh but it had seemed to me..it hurt to laugh.

"Dawn don't worry about me, I know you have your busy schedule with Sierrah and school I'll be fine my mom'll be here to keep me company" She reassured me.

I had so many questions but I felt if I asked any in mid sentence Nalani would break, I know I haven't known Nalani for long but if she has opened up to anyone I feel shes opened up to me.

"Mrs. Roy," A nurse called from the door looking at her clipboard and back up with a quick smile,

"Your mother is here to see you."

"I'll be there in a minute." Nalani opened her arms to me and I bent as far as I could to give her a hug. The nurse came back to take Nalani out to her room. Nalani looked back and smiled and I waved.

Then my mom came back into the room.

"Where's mac?" I asked.

"Honey I sent her home, it's close to midnight"

What? Already?

"Then why did Mrs. Roy just come?" I asked confused.

"She had to work late at the office so she asked me to keep an eye on her, she had come to check on Nalani right when she got admitted but Nalani was unconscious so she left after an hour or two." She answered me and I nodded in understanding. Nalani's mom working as a doctor she must have a busy schedule.

"Nalani won't be in that wheelchair forever..right?" I asked making myself believe the answer would be of course not!

"Honey, the doctors haven't said anything yet, but they told me you'd only be here till tomorrow night then we can leave!" She had a warm smile hoping there'd be one on my face too.

She swiped some hair off my forehead.

"Dawn honey, aren't you happy?"

"Mom! My friend is in a wheelchair because of me!" Then it hit me, it's because of me.

"It was an accident, I promise it won't be severe hon. lets get some rest okay, I'm here right by your side." Before I knew it my mom was out like a light.

I just didn't know how I could sleep knowing it was all my fault.

I guess only sleep can cure the pain.

After all, it's worked before.
