Dawns POV
"S-sorry." I stuttered backing up to the girls.
"For?" Kayden said cocking his head to the side and smirking.
I turned to the side and saw Nalani was by James. I saw James trying not to laugh and gave him a stern look.
"Dawn, Mac!" James said trying to break the awkwardness. We all nestled up in a bear hug.
I realized Kayden was just standing alone so I let go and everyone followed. Wait what.
Why did I care if Kayden was alone? Why am I even thinking about him.
We all decided to go out by the beachside and pool. We all grabbed chairs and sat in a circle. Nalani by James, Mac by Nalani, and what a shocker me by Kayden.
Cue eyeroll mixed with a intense glare.
"I didn't know you and James were friends Kayden." Mac asked turning to Kayden.
"Well there's a lot you don't know, but we are. Why so shocked?" Kayden replied furrowing his eyebrows.
"You and James are totally different." Mac answered.
"Ever heard of the saying 'opposites attract'?" Kayden replied with the dang smirk again.
He turned to me and just stared.
Rude.
"Drinks anyone?" Kayden asked.
We all nodded and James went to help. Mac and Nalani turned to me and winked.
"What!" I asked annoyed.
"When are you planning to ask him out?" They asked together.
"The only way he'd say yes if I slept with him!" I replied.
They looked at each other then back at me smirking.
"GUYS!" I asked confused and mad.
"We're kidding! But you still have to ask him sooner or later tonight! Nalani and James are going to the sushi bar and I'm gonna chill with Matt in the lounge."
Matt was Mac's best guy friend. When Mac had moved into the new neighborhood in 3rd grade Matt was her only friend, and they are still friends till today.
"Why do you guys hate me?" I said with a pleading look.
Ugh I hate this.
They flew me kisses then left. I sat back into the chair playing with my nails. Then I heard a familiar voice.
"Dawn? What are you doing here alone? Where are Nalani and Mac?" James asked.
Nalani's at the sushi bar waiting for you and Mac's gonna hang out with Matt tonight. He smirked and made the 'oh yeah I forgot' face.
"Well I'll leave you two kids alone," he said still smirking at me, then turned to Kayden (which I didn't even notice was behind me) saying "and you, on your best behavior." James sounded serious, but then smiled and bid his goodbyes.
Kayden handed me a red solo cup and a candycane.
"You knew I liked candycanes?" I asked in confusion.
"James knew, guess there's more to know about you" He said coming a step closer. Every step he came closer I went back until I reached a wall. Until his arms reached the wall behind me closing the space between us. Those eyes. That smile.
Damn.
Wait what. I'm suppose to be pretending. I know he can feel my heavy breathing.
He took a loose stand of my hair and pulled it behind my ear. He leaned in for what I thought would be a kiss, my first kiss. And I'd reject it because my first kiss had to be with someone I love. But he instead went to my ear.
"Relax. Remember? On my best behavior." He said turning back to my face with that freaking smirk again!
I rolled my eyes and pushed him off.
Dang. He's built.
I was shivering and I guess he saw. He gave me his jacket and we went inside.
"Don't think of this in the wrong way I just want to know you better. It's either in the lobby, outside, or in one of the rooms. Don't worry I'm not gonna sleep with you." He said chuckling.
Mac and Matt were in the lobby and it was windy out. I decided we might as well just go to the room.
"I g-guess my room?" I stuttered.
"Sure.: He smiled.
We went on the elevator and headed towards the door. I then realized I didn't have the room card.
Shoot.
"H-hey.." I said.
"Hi" He said smiling.
"Mac has the key.." I said feeling stupid.
"To my room it is then." He smirked and held my hand.
I better not regret this.
