Chapter 28: Traditions and Promises

Do you ever get the feeling as if you don't belong? Well I do. Quite often. Being an Andrew isn't all the hype you'd think it would be. After all nobody is perfect, but society thinks differently..

"Right, left, left, forward, back, chins up!" Madame Chauncy yelled for about the tenth time now.

I stepped on Lucas' shoe for about the twentieth time now.

I have hated Debutant practices since freshman year when I started. I'd always be uncoordinated and distracted. Lucas had been my escort every year so I guess it's a tradition.

"Sorry, I'm such a klutz." I said looking at him sheepishly.

I looked over to Kayden and Chelsea. Chelsea looked beyond happy and while Kayden..well looked like Kayden. No emotion. Unreadable book.

It had been two weeks since Kayden had talked to me and honestly I didn't know why. Whenever I saw him his eyes would say anger and hurt. I wish he'd just say what he was feeling like a normal person.

"Okay that'll be all for today!" Madame Chauncy announced.

Madame Chauncy had been a friend of my moms since college. She's basically my 'God-Mother' as Sierrah likes to call her. She was nothing like my mother. Madame Chauncy was a strict mother. She had the warm motherly smile and her lectures. I loved her like I love Linda.

"Dawn! Chelsea! Would you come here for a moment." She signaled her hand over to her office.

Well this can't be good..

"Hi Madame Chauncy." I curtsied dramatically.

"Hello Darlings. I'm afraid your escorts will be changing." She said giving an apologetic smile.

"Is something wrong with my dancing, sorry I know I can be a klutz.." I trailed off fiddling with my fingers.

"Oh no dear." She said slightly chuckling and rubbing my shoulder in a soothing manner.

"Headmistress called and designated for you two to change partners." She explained.

"What?" Chelsea and I said in unison.

Chelsea barged off muttering words I couldn't understand and didn't bother too.

"Sorry Madame, she can be..well Chelsea." I said smiling sheepishly.

She chuckled lightly and replied. "Don't worry about it. I've dealt with her mother I can deal with her." Now I was chuckling too. Madame Chauncy headed to leave and I decided to get my bag and shoes.

"Bye dear!" Madame Chauncy called out to me right before I opened to door to my car. I smiled and waved back.

"Oh and Dawn?" She called before I got into my car.

"Yes?" I replied looking over my shoulder.

"You and that Kayden boy make a good couple, for the Ball ofcourse..well atleast for now." Madame finished with a wink and I couldn't help but slightly blush. Hopefully my chuckle covered it.

I was stopped by an unpleasant sight.

"Yes?" I asked with an annoyed tone.

"You think you can get away with this?" She asked with a cold tone and glare towards my way.
