I swear one of these days the lunatics I call friends will be six feet under. Monte Carlo, really? I don't know what they're planning but I'm not giving in. I may be a pushover sometimes (okay most times) but this time, uh uh.

"Actually, Monte Carlo just for tonight. Tomorrow we are headed for Paree!" Chelsea corrected us imitating a French accent.

"Woohoo," I said my voice dripping in sarcasm, "I'm gonna catch a cab." I muttered turning to walk off the boardwalk before exclaimed voices stopped me.

"No!" Zoe, James, Mac, Nalani, and Chelsea, exclaimed all at once. Okay, there's definitely something planned here.

I walked over to Lucas explaining to him how I was tired and decided to lie down at the hotel and simply rest. He offered to stay with me but I graciously declined and told him to enjoy the beauties of Monte Carlo and without letting him get another word I faced towards the group once again.

"Jet lag, that's it!" I excused myself fakely smiling at the group, "Au revoir." I called out before rolling my carry-on with me to hail a cab.

Right after they come back from dinner I'll make sure to give my imbecile friends a piece of my--

"Need some help with that?" A familiar voice asked behind me. I didn't even have to turn around to recognize the not-so-distant voice.

"I can carry three pounds of luggage, thank you very much." I said not sparing a glance towards the person behind me and pulled out my phone to call a cab service.

I heard the voice chuckle behind me and footsteps nearing in, ignoring him, I pressed the call button on my phone calling the cab service.

"Bonjour c'est Tim! Comment puis-je vous aider?" (Hi my name is Tim. How may I help you?) The voice spoke through the phone. I vaguely remember the simple French I had learned four years in high school.

"Bonjour je peux avoir un taxi sur la 33e avenue?" (Bonjour, can I have a cab on 33rd avenue?) I asked the French man on the other line.

"Oui, nous y serons bientôt!" (Yes, we will be there soon!) The man spoke through the line before it cut dead. I safely tucked my phone back into the thin compartment in my hand bag turning on my heel to see an amused Kayden.

"What do you want?" I asked slightly irritated. I mean c'mon who wouldn't be after seven hours on a plane and being tricked into a place which brought back memories you didn't want to reminded of?

Exactly.

"Just impressed by your French, mademoiselle." Kayden said amusingly with a clean French accent rolling off his tongue with his last word.

I rolled my eyes and asked another question, again irritably, "I thought you had a project in California?"

"I do. But I'm boss, even if I didn't show up it would still be up and running." Kayden replied with a cocky expression, so yes, a smirk.

"Then why did you leave in the first place?" I raised my brows in a questioning manner and crossed my arms over my chest. Kayden parted his mouth to answer but quickly shut it again nodding his head behind me. I heard a few tires screech as the cab pulled up.

"Au revoir, Dawn." Kayden told me as he started to walk away with a smile. A real, genuine smile.

I got into the cab and showed the cab driver the address that Nalani had given me. The cab drive was silent beside the sounds of Monte Carlo traffic and breeze. It was soothing. I let my mind relax and take in the architectural surroundings.

Even if Monte Carlo held brief memories, they were a beautiful memories. And hey, who knows? Maybe this time I'll make memories that I won't regret in the long run.
