I Find Peace in the Rain

It was an innocent Thursday night. Or so it seemed. Mark lay on his bed, on his stomach, skyping to his green haired boyfriend. He watched the other as he talked, throwing his arms around, causing a few strands of fluffy hair to cover his bright blue eyes. Mark chuckled at Jack's remark, his brown eyes sparkling as he did so. But not everyone was happy. It was raining outside. And outside, on the balcony that attached to Mark's bedroom, stood Dark. A very wet, unamused Dark. Whether or not Mark actually noticed him is unknown, but that didn't affect the demon's foul mood.

Even though Dark tapped on the glass door, his clothes stuck to his body, red hair plastered to his face, blood on his hands, Mark didn't seem to hear. He lay inside, wearing headphones, replying to something the green haired man said, and clapping his hands excitedly. Finally, and much to the demon's relief, they hung up. He, again, tapped on the door, earning the other man's attention. His eyes widened and he rushed over to the door, unlocking it and throwing it open. The demon stepped inside, throwing his 'twin' a look.

"I hate the rain." He growled in Mark's face, his eyes flashing red as if to prove his point.

"I'm sorry, I was talking to Jack and he said that he was going to-"

Dark cut him off. "I don't care."

Mark sighed, Dark brushing past him to go to the bathroom to shower and change.

"Well, fine. But try not to be too messy, ok?" Mark said, following the demon to the bathroom and having the door shut in his face. "I've gotta get this place cleaned up." he finished, yelling through the door. Suddenly, all fell silent. Dark reopened the door, revealing him shirtless.

"What?" He questioned.

"Try not to be too messy, I've gotta get this place cleaned up." Mark repeated.

"Why exactly?"

"Jack's coming over, he should be here Saturday." Mark informed him.

Dark grinned evilly. "Ooh, won't that be fun."

Mark's eyes widened slightly. "Hey, now Dark..."

But Dark wouldn't hear it. "This is gonna be great."

"Dark..." Mark whined.

"You're gonna regret leaving me out there in the rain." He smirked, and shut the door in Mark's face, ideas already forming on what he could do.

Soon Saturday arrived, and Dark was more than excited. Mark was off at the airport getting Jack and he was waiting for the two lovebirds to get back. He heard the door unlock, their two voices chattering as they walked in. Dark crept down the stairs, seeing Mark shut the door and look at him. Dark waved and Mark just rolled his eyes, turning back to Jack and taking his stuff. Mark passed him on the stairs, Jack close behind, complaining. Something about "Jetlag" and "Sleep." Dark just stood there, waiting for Jack to realized their were two "Marks," but he kept walking, not even noticing that even Dark existed. Mark shut the door behind his boyfriend, beginning down the stairs.

"Mark." The demon growled. The red haired man ignored him, turning at the bottom of the stairs and going into the kitchen. "Mark." The demon said again, following him. "What did you do?"

Mark glanced up at him, handing him the bottle he held in his hand.

Dark glared at his twin. "How f***ing dare you." He roared in Mark's face.

"Yep, you remember these? I learned how to make it again, even after you 'accidently' destroyed the instructions. So, now he can't see you, hear you, feel you. Nothing. It's like you're not even there."

Dark snarled, throwing the bottle on the ground, the glass shattering. "It only lasts a day, Mark. I'll still torture him. I'll still ruin your fun."

"Oh, you're right." Mark said. "And to think, I almost forgot."

He pulled out another bottle, uncapping it and dumping it on the demon's head.

"Two days."

Another bottle.

"Three days."

One last bottle.

"And... four days." Mark smiled. "That should be long enough."

Dark glared at Mark, his hands clenched into fists. "So, you saved him. You saved your pretty little boyfriend. But what about you? I'm still here and you still have to deal with me. I will still ruin your fun."

Mark looked unconvinced.

"I will not leave you alone. I will haunt you like a ghost. You have a second shadow now. I have my ways." Dark threatened.

Mark shrugged, walking out of the kitchen and heading towards the stairs. "Oh, and Dark?" He said, turning back to face the demon who was still standing there. "Could you clean up that glass?"

The rest of the day went without a hitch, and Mark wasn't quite sure if that was a good thing or not. Even the glass was cleaned up. The next day Jack and Mark spent sightseeing, and Dark didn't come, so they were alone. The third was spent at home, and Dark made sure to annoy Mark all day. Whether it was whispering things in his ear, pretending to do this and that or making weird 'paranormal' things happen all around the house. Dark even scared him once by randomly appearing in the mirror. Mark let out a (less than) manly yelp and Dark about died right then and there of laughter.

It was the fourth day when Mark got his payback, dousing the demon in even more potions. It also rained later that day, so him and Jack just stayed in their pajamas, playing video games inside. Around 7 that night, Mark went to go and get a shower, only when he got back out, it was silent. The TV was off, the game and controllers neatly tucked away. Jack was nowhere to be seen. Mark, back in his pajamas, searched around frantically, only to find Jack standing out on the balcony, in the midst of the pouring rain.

"Jack?" Mark asked, opening the door. All he got was a hum in response. "Jack?" he asked again, stepping out to join him in the rain. "Are you ok?"

"I find peace in the rain." Jack replied, not turning to look at his red haired boyfriend. The green haired man leaned against the rail, seemingly not affected by the downpour that splashed on him. "It's so calming. It washes away everything. It makes the world smell fresh. It's so beautiful to watch." He takes a deep breath and releases it. "It reminds me of home."

Mark's gaze flickers over to where Dark was standing on the other side of the glass door. He smiles, turning his back to the demon and leaning on the rail like Jack was, surveying the world around him. "Yeah," He agreed. "I find peace in the rain."
