Jack leaned against the wall in the locker room, waiting for all the other kids to file out and go to lunch. Most everyone had left by now, except the small group of 5 or so sporty people. They joked around and laughed, Jack sighing slightly. All he wanted to do was go eat, but he always waited for everyone else to change before he did, afraid of getting bullied. He was a bit of a pastel person, openly gay and always wearing flower crowns.
Finally, everyone left and Jack sighed heavily, plopping his change of clothes on the bench. That's when he noticed that one of the kids hadn't left. The fairly well built high schooler stared at him with his chocolate brown eyes, before going back to changing. The raven haired jock pulled out some sort of cologne, spraying it on himself. Jack took a deep breath, taking in the wondrous smell the tiny bottle gave off. He rather liked the smell, staring at the bottle the raven haired student held in his hand, trying to decipher what the name of it was.
The student turned back to Jack, eyeing him curiously. "What are you staring at?"
Jack's eyes widened as he looked nervously up at the older student. "Oh, uh... I like the smell of the cologne and was trying to see what it was called." He stuttered out, slightly embarrassed.
The raven haired student examined the bottle, reading the name aloud. "Midnight Haze. Whatever that means." He shrugged.
Jack nodded. The other student grabbed his stuff, slinging it over his shoulder, before spraying Jack slightly with the cologne. "There." The brown eyed man grinned. "Now you can smell good too." And with that, he left Jack alone in the locker room, flushed bright red.
This became practically a daily thing, Jack waiting until all the Juniors friends left before they talked. He found out that his new friends name was Mark, and the green haired Irishman introduced himself as Jack. A couple weeks after they first meet, Mark surprised Jack by gifting him a bottle of the cologne, Jack blushing slightly and taking the gift appreciatively. He sprayed the contents into the air, twirling around in the cloud and giggling a little at the end.
Jack looked at Mark wide eyed and slightly embarrassed when he caught the older student looking at him confused. "What did you do that for?" The raven haired man asked.
"That's how my sister puts on perfume. She says it helps evenly distribute the scent everywhere." Jack confessed, hoping Mark wouldn't judge him too much. He always worried about everything, Jack did. Always worrying.
"That's actually really cool." Mark replied, smiling as Jack seemed relived.
Mark sprayed his bottle of cologne in the air, twirling around in it like Jack did, both of the giggling at the end. They ended up spending half of lunch twirling and dancing through the cologne that hung in the air.
"We should totally meet up after school sometime." Mark suggested as he got ready to leave.
"I actually have been wanting to do that for a while." Jack admitted shyly.
"Really?" Mark asked slightly surprised. "Why didn't you say anything."
"Too nervous."
Mark shook his head slightly. "You worry too much."
Jack shrugged. "Can't help it."
"Well, at least we're hanging out now. Where do you want to meet after school?"
"Out front?" Jack suggested.
"Sure," Mark replied with a smile. "I'll see you then." He ruffled Jack's hair slightly, heading out the locker room door and leaving Jack all alone once again.
Mark was quite surprised when he saw Jack later that day, all dressed in pastel purples and blues. Jack had forgotten that Mark had never seen him wear what he normally did, and avoided eye contact as he spoke. "I uh... I'm really close to my sister."
"So.... you're...?"
"Gay. Yeah." Jack squeaked out.
"I'm Bi, so it doesn't bother me." Mark reassured him, laying a hand in his shoulder.
Jack looked up, his electric blue eyes staring at Mark in relief. "Oh. Good. I was afraid of your reaction when I told you that."
"You worry about everything." Mark teased, Jack following him to his car. "So, what do you wanna do?"
"I normally just go home and play video games." Jack admitted truthfully.
Mark's eyes widened as he began to back out of the parking spot, suddenly slamming on the brakes. "You play video games?!" He asked, excitement seeping into his voice.
Jack nodded.
"Dude, what's your favorite?" The older man asked, continuing to back out.
"Shadow of the Colossus."
"Heard of it," Mark said, trying to think. "But I don't think I've ever played it."
"You haven't?" Jack asked, jaw dropping in disbelief. "We're so playing that when we get to your house."
"I don't own it though." Mark pointed out.
"We can just stop by my house and pick up the copy I have." Jack suggested.
"Or, I could go buy it."
"Or that."
One GameStop and $20 later, the two teens sat in Mark's bedroom, Jack giving tips and tricks to help Mark complete the game.
"This game is pretty cool." Mark admitted, cutting himself off with a growl as he fell from the back of the 3rd colossus.
"Told you." Jack teased. "Ugh, here." Jack sighed, snatching the controller from Mark's grasp and effortlessly slaying the tall beast.
"I was gonna do that." Mark protested, crossing his arms in fake grumpiness.
"Sure you were." Jack smirked playfully.
"Give me that," Mark said, reaching for the controller.
Jack giggled, holding it away from his friend. Mark reached over, grabbing the controller and pulling it towards himself, bringing Jack along with it in the process. That's how they ended up in the position they were in, Jack on top of Mark, Mark triumphantly holding the controller above his head. They stayed like that for a few seconds, and Jack was going to move until Mark wrapped his arms around Jack's waist.
Jack was even more flustered than before, if that was even possible, but Mark just looked up at him with a smirk. But a few seconds later, a soft and endearing kiss was placed on Jack's lips. When they pulled apart, Jack buried his face in Marks shoulder, and Mark hugged Jack tighter.
"I love you, ya know." Mark whispered softly into Jack's ear.
Jack shivered slightly as Mark's breath tickled his ear, his response slightly muffled as he squeaked out his response. "I love you too."
