"237, 238, 239...A?" Jack mumbled to himself as he walked down the halls. "Why is there a 239 A? Why didn't they just make it 239 and 240?" He was more or less wandering around the college campus, following the numbers as they increased, trying his hardest to get to room 412. As you can see, he wasn't doing too well. At first, being an exchange student to America sounded like a great idea, but not that he was jetlagged and completely lost, it didn't seem quite as fun.
"Excuse me?" A voice called from behind him. Jack turned around to see a man, most likely a teacher or staff member, walking towards him. "What are you doing?" The man looked at him with a curious, but stern glare as Jack struggled to form a response.
"Well, I'm uh-" Jack began. The man's face relaxed, turning into a warm and comforting smile.
"I see, you must be the exchange student." Jack nodded slightly, letting out a tiny sigh of relief. "Well, I'm Dr. Chaffin, the principle of the college. Nice to meet you." He stuck out his hand and Jack shyly took it, embarrassed at his stupid behavior in front of the man. Of all the people to be caught alone and confused, it simply had to be the head of the school.
"I'm Jack." The green haired boy introduced himself, shaking the offered hand.
"Lost, are you?" Dr. Chaffin asked. Jack nodded shyly in response, his blue eyes adverted to the ground. "Where are you headed?" The man pressed, stealing a look at the paper Jack held in his hand. "Room 412? Yeah, you're lost."
The began walking, Jack following close behind as the principal lead the way. "So, who are you staying with? I'm almost surprised they aren't leading you around."
"Well, my stuff hasn't arrived yet and I haven't been in my dorm room yet either. It's room 356, I think." Jack explained.
"Do you atleast know the name of your roommate?" Dr. Chaffin asked, turning a corner.
Jack chuckled slightly. "Yes, actually. When I asked, the lady stressed that I remember his name. Mark Fishbak... Fichback...?" Jack trailed off, trying to remember how to properly pronounce the last name.
"Fischbach." The principle corrected. "You're gonna have quite a year ahead of you."
Jack looked at him in confusion, the two of them stopping outside of room 412 to finish their conversation. "Why?"
"Well, Mark is... an interesting character. To put it simply, he's a bit of a playboy. He's super smart and makes excellent grades, but I'm warning you... don't fall in love with him."
Jack nodded. "Ok."
The principle shook his head. "It's easier said than done." He warned.
Again, Jack nodded. The principle smiled, patting Jack on the shoulder. "Well, I should let you get to class. Good luck."
"Thank you, sir." Jack gave a little smile as Dr. Chaffin nodded, then he headed inside.
As soon as he opened the door, all attention was on him. The teacher's attention was drawn away from the board and the students expressions went from extremely bored to quite interested.
"Aahh, You must be Sean McLoughlin, the exchange student." The teacher said, grabbing something off her desk. He nodded, looking around the room. "Well, introduce yourself." she said, shoving him into to front of the room.
Jack cleared his throat and began to speak. "Well, my names Sean, though I prefer to be called Jack and as if you couldn't tell already, I'm an exchange student from Ireland." All the girls giggled and swooned at the sound of his voice, whispering among themselves.
"You'll be staying with Mark, is that right?" The teacher asked. Jack nodded, sending murmurs around the room. "Well, he's sitting there in the back, you can take the empty seat next to him." She points and Jack heads to sit down.
