"Star-gazing was a good idea." Jack murmured. He shuffled over closer to Mark, so that their sides were touching, though the other man didn't really seem to notice, his gaze lost in the sky.
"Do you know that constellation?" Mark asked randomly, pointed up and connection imaginary lines in the sky.
"No babe," Jack smiled, leaning his head on Mark's shoulder as the pair lay on the blanket in the grass. "I don't."
"Do you want to?"
Jack knew this would lead him down a deep rabbit hole, real quick, but he loved whenever Mark got excited about things. "Sure." Jack relented, pressing a kissing to Mark's head before turning to look up at the sky.
"Ok, so that's Ursa Major, which contains the Big Dipper. Do you see it?" Mark asked, motioned with his hand to connect more imaginary lines.
"Yeah, It's right..." Jack pointed up to the sky as well. "there."
"U-huh. So basically Zeus went after some wood-nymph chick and then Hera got jealous and turned Callisto, the wood-nymph's name was Callisto, into a bear. And then, when Callisto, as the bear, almost got shot, by her own son no less, Zeus made her a constellation in the sky."
"What happened to her son?"
"Oh, Arcas? He's Ursa Minor. He's right over there." Mark pointed to another section of the sky.
"Do you just have all these stories and names memorized?" Jack asked, rising his eyebrow incredulously.
Mark tired his gaze away from the sky, shifting slightly to look at his boyfriend. "This stuff is so cool. How can I not?"
Jack shrugged. "It's impressive, that's all."
"You know, you look beautiful in the moonlight." Mark commented, the night sky long forgotten.
Jack blushed and buried himself in Marks shoulder. "Stop..." he whined, flushed red under Mark's gaze.
Mark chuckled, and Jack peered out from his hiding spot, giggling as well.
"Is there something you need?" Mark teased.
"How about a kiss?"
"Just for you." The pair kissed for a brief moment before pulling away with a smile. And then, they turned back to face the sky, snuggling closer together as the night got colder.
Mark continued to point out and ramble on about different constellations until he heard soft snores escaping the Irishman beside him. With that, he scooped his boyfriend in his arms, blanket and all, and pressed a kiss to his hair before carrying him inside.
Mark thought back to what Jack had said earlier, and agreed. It was a good idea to go star-gazing tonight.
