Mark looked out of the train's window, watching the scenery whiz by as Jack snored softly in the seat next to him. He smiled down at his boyfriend, curled up in the window seat, his head laying on Mark's lap. Mark ran his fingers through the Irishman's green hair, smiling to himself. He tried to be gentle, as gentle as he could, for the raven haired man didn't know his own strength sometimes. You see, the secret that Mark had rarely told anyone, besides those like him, was that he possessed some supernatural powers, one of which is superhuman strength. He also had a little bit of telekinesis, though it wasn't really his strong suit and he only tried to use it in the most dire of times. It appeared, that now was one of those times.
The screech of the trains metal wheels against the tracks was what caught the brown eyed man off guard, and the screams of the people towards the front as they began to realize what was happening. The wave of panic quickly washed over the whole car, leaving Mark temporarily dazed and confused. That was, until someone yelled.
"There's no track!"
As people pressed themselves against the windows, Mark learned that about 200 feet of track had mysteriously and quite randomly gone missing. Apparently, there was no way to stop the train in time, might as the conductors tried. Doing quick calculations in his head Mark tried to figure out what to do. It takes about a mile for a train going at full speed to stop, and if Mark were to try and help, they'd be more likely to stop in time. But that ran the risk of people finding out about the powers he contained. Of course, no one riding knew him, besides Jack, but if some villains were to discover his identity, headquarters would be less than happy. He could try to save him and Jack, if he took the brunt of the impact, then they'd be likely the only ones who'd survive.
Against all odds, the raven haired man wasting precious seconds trying to decide, with one last look at Jack sleeping peacefully beside him, he stood up into the aisle, squeezing his eyes shut. He heard quiet gasps and whispers scattered around the train car as he felt the power seep through his skin and out into the open air. He was slowly lifted up into the air, his eyes still shut tight and rays of red clung around the train's wheels, helping slow the train as he clenched his fists shut. After holding that for a few seconds, the train came to a halt, thankfully before it launched itself over the edge. Upon realizing everyone was safe, and everyone was staring at him, Mark collapsed to the floor, panting.
Jack, who was awake at this point, had quickly picked up in the situation and scurried over to his boyfriend, sending a glare around at those who still looked. The conductors quickly rushed everyone off the train, though they left the pair alone as Mark seemed to be struggling to get up off the floor, due to the amount of energy it took to stop the train.
"You ok?" Jack asked, worry filling his ocean blue eyes.
Mark nodded, pushing himself up, Jack catching him as his arms gave out underneath him. "I'll be fine." Mark smiled reassuringly, giving his boyfriend a peck on the lips. "I just don't use that power too much." Jack helped him to his feet, Mark leaning on him as they exited the car. "Still trying to master that one."
They exited the train car, Jack warding off people who tried to approach and ask questions, the two of them wanting to simply get home to rest. Jack pulled out his cell phone, calling a friend of theirs to take them home. One person, however, ran away from the site in attempts to get somewhere before too much time had passed. Mark narrowed his eyes in suspicion, they had ran away a little too quickly. Almost superhumanly fast. He sighed, leaning his head on Jack's shoulder as they waited, hoping he was just seeing things.
"Are you crazy?" Felix yelled at him just a couple hours later. Soon after him and Jack had gotten home, headquarters had called him in, Mark having to leave Jack behind, though he reassured him that he'd back as soon as he could. "Do you know how many people could have saw you?" The blonde lectured, icey eyes full of fury. "And how many of those did see you?" The leader sighed in frustration.
