You're the Angel to my Demon

"Jack. Jack! JACK!" Felix yelled, earning the attention of his green haired friend. "You're doing it again."

"How long did it take this time?"

"Like 10 seconds. I said your name multiple times."

Jack nods, drawing his gaze away from his friends worried blue eyes, instead surveying the world around him. He sat on a cloud, one of the many up here, his angel wings fluttering nervously, like they had a mind of their own. Ever since Jack had first seen the eternal fires that lay below, he kept having these moments where he spaced out, having to be drawn back into reality by Felix. Only, the more and more this happened, the longer it took for him to snap out of it.

He and Felix were great friends, their powers going well together as if to put icing in the cake. Jack had the ability to grow and work with nature, more specifically along the lines of plants his green hair ironically fitting in with his ability. Felix, however, had the ability to control water, which could help out Jack if it was so needed.

"Do ya think it's getting worse?" Jack questioned his friend.

"It's been pretty consistent lately, like it's plateaued or something." Felix responded.

The blonde tucked his wings neatly behind his back as took a step closer towards his friend. He felt more responsible for his younger friend, especially in the past few months.

"You've grown yourself to the ground again." Felix sighed, drawing Jack's attention to the grass, flowers and vines that have trapped him in his sitting position. "Come on, we need to get you out before someone sees."

They hadn't told anyone about Jack's... tendencies... just in case the other Angels took this as a sign that the green haired man shouldn't be here. As far as the two boys knew, no one else had reacted to seeing the eternal fires like this, and Felix wanted to keep his friend forever if he could.

The blonde made a mental note that all the flowers were some shade of pink, red or purple as they helped to unwind them from the irishman's legs. It would take a lot less time for Felix to simply remove their source of water, but he knew how much that hurt his friend. These plants were his creation, and practically a part of him. So Jack gently coaxed them to uncurl from each other, and Felix lead them away with little puddles of water here and there.

It was a slow and grueling process, very time consuming and monotonous, but it was necessary. It's was during these times that the two could bond the most, being able to talk for hours without stopping, and yet somehow they never ran out of things to discuss. Jack also did this sometimes when he was simply thinking or if he just wanted an excuse to talk to his friend.

They stopped temporarily when a bunch of other Angels rushed by, exchanging confused glances.

"Felix! Jack! Come on!" Marzia, Felix's girlfriend shrieked, running to where they sat. "We've got to go! We've heard reports of Demons flying around nearby!" She grabbed her boyfriend's arm and began pulling him away.

Jack's eyes widened in dismay as his friend got pulled farther away from where he sat helpless. Felix ushered his girlfriend onwards, to go to safety, promising her that he would join her shortly. He dashed over back to where Jack sat, rushing their delicate process. A flower here and there snapped, causing Jack to cringe and Felix to apologize, but it was quite necessary. Soon, they finished, and he helped his friend scramble to his feet, but soon wasn't soon enough.

Shadows passed over head as the two boys ran, and Marzia stood screaming on the other side of the gate, her hands outstretched to reach her boyfriend. Jack cast a quick glance behind them, seeing as one Demon in particular kept getting closer and closer. Without even a second thought, Jack shoved Felix through the gates as they shut tight, watching his friends face turn from one of relief to horror as he realized Jack didn't make it in with him. A protective bubble was formed around the city, letting nothing in, or out. Felix banged his fist against the bubble, trying so desperately to reach his lifelong friend, but to no avail.
