CHAPTER 33

Fere's POV

Morning came. Maaga ding dumating si Stephen para iexplain sa amin ang gamot na gagamitin kay Yugi. Mejo delikado ang pagaadminister ng gamot na ito kaya naman si Stephen na mismo ang nakaduty dito maghapon.

"Stephen, hindi ba delikado ito?"

"Babe, just trust me."

"My wife's name is Fere, kindly call her by her name."

I choose not to react dahil kinakabahan ako to mind Yuseff's crazy antics.

"Stephen, siguraduhin mo na hindi mapapahamak ang anak ko ha."

"Ipapahamak ko ba naman ang anak na pinakamagandang babaeng nasilayan ko?"

"Stephen naman eh. Nakakapagbiro ka pa??"

"Doc, time na po for injection. Tatanggalin na po muna namin ang IV ni baby boy."

"Mama ayaw ko ng turok."

Akmang lalapitan ko si Yugi nang pigilan ako ni Yuseff.

"Ako na lang." Pigil ni sa akin ni Yuseff

May ibinulong si Yuseff kay Yugi. Nagulat akong pumayag ang anak ko at nagpaubaya sa gagawin ng nurse sa kanya. Nakakabiglang hindi sya naghisterikal para magpaturok. Muli ay parang hinaplos ang aking puso. Si Yugi ay nakayakap kay Yuseff habang tinuturukan ni Stephen. Nang matapos si Stephen ay nilapitan ko si Yugi at hinalikan ang noo nito.

"Kahit hinug kita, pangit ka pa din. Hindi pa din kita kamukha."

"Kamukha kita dahil ako ang Papa mo."

"Pangit."

"Iyakin."

Nakangiti ako sa kanila.

"Any time ay makakatulog si Yugi kaya naman kailangan natin syang bantayan. He'll be very hyper when he wakes up but will fall asleep again. The med will take effect about 18 hours, after that, he'll sleep in one cycle and wake up in the morning."

"Will he be okay?"

"yes, tomorrow he'll be fine again. Pero tuloy tuloy ang vitamins through IV."

"Salamat Stephen."

"No worries."

Stephen was about to hug me when my sleepy Yugi speak.

"Doc na may small eyes,di kita bati paghinug mo Mama ko pakanakasleep nako."

"Haiii manang mana ka. Pano Fere, babalik na lang ako to check on him later."

"Salamat Steph."

"Ehemn. Anak, gusto mo bang katabi si Mama dito?"

He nodded but he was able to speak some more.

"Hindi pa din kita kamukha."

Hanggang sa makatulog si Yugi, sinasabi nyang pangit si Yuseff. Hindi ko nakitaan ng pagkainis si Yuseff sa lahat ng pangaalaska at pangaasar ni Yugi sa kanya.

Time after time, biglang gigising si Yugi at mangungulit tapos aantukin na naman sya at biglang makakatulog. About lunch time when a phone call for Yuseff came in. Siguro may emergency kaya nagmadali na lang itong umalis.

Hours pass by at napasarap ata ang tulog ni Yugi. He wake up smiling but to his dismay, wala dun si Yuseff.

"Sabi ko na, hindi honest yung pangit na yun Mama."

His tears started to fall. Everytime I see him like this, my broken heart shatters. I hug him. As much as I wanted to cry, ayoko na dagdagan pa ang sama ng loob ng anak ko. Everything in me is shattering. I hate to see this little boy cry like this.

"Sabi nya, di nya iiwan Yugi. Mama. Sabi nya makakaron na ako ng family picture! Liar sya Mama!! Niiwan nya ako kahit nasleep pa ako! Sabi nya aawayin nya ang bad dreams." He sobbed

Sa sobrang pagiyak nya ay nasobrahan din sya ng pagod. Stephen said na hahaba ang tulog ni Yugi dahil dito. The medicine is to heal his respiratory problem kaya lang sa sobrang iyak nya kanina, nahirapan na naman ang anak ko. Stephen gave him another shot to make him calm. Though mild lang naman yun.

Past 11:00pm ng bumukas ang pinto ng kwarto ni Yugi.

"How is he?"

"He was looking for you." Mahinang sabi ko

He smiled proudly.

"He cried himself to sleep because you broke your promise to him. He was given another shot for him to calm because he won't stop crying."

His proud eyes went to pained eyes.

"Oh God. Sorry."

"I am thankful to you. Malaki ang utang na loob ko sayo. Sa pagtustos sa gastusin dito sa ospital, sa pagpapagamot sa anak ko. Sa pagpapatira sa amin sa bahay mo. Sa lahat. Pero pwede bang ako na lang ang magbayad ng lahat? Yuseff, pakiusap, layuan mo na ang anak ko. Gagawin ko lahat lahat. Kahit anong hilingin mo. Huwag lang masaktan ang anak ko."

"I didn't----"

"He's too vulnerable and he's still a baby. His hopes are too high and he believes in almost everything he sees. Ayoko ng masaktan sya. This is the least I can do for him, atleast not make him feel hurt."

"Fere, listen."

"Yuseff---"

"You listen to me! I am your husband. I am still your husband that makes Yugi my son. And no, I am not amenable for anything. Papers for his new birth certificate is on process. From the day you come back to my turf, you're mine again. That makes yours mine!"

"Yuseff, please spare my son from all the complications."

"Our son Ferella. Our son."

"Please don't make this complicated Yuseff. I am begging you!"

"You are the one making things complicated Ferella!"

Hindi ko na napigilan pa ang pagiyak ko.

"Make things easier for yourself Ferella. We're still married. He's our son. I don't care who the fuck is that bastard who impregnate you and I'm sure as hell to fucking kill him if he tries to snatch that little boy from me."

"Remember this Ferella. I am Yugi's father and no one else would be."

He said, walked out and shut the door. Hindi ko alam kung ano ba ang dapat kong maramdaman ngayon, is there a little hope that he'll come back to me? Will he be the husband I lost before Kristina came? What happened to Kristina and their child? How are they going to accept this? Did she even know I am back in Yuseff's life and he's claiming my son? Pero bago pa man ang lahat, I just wanted to know, what is happening to my life? Bumalik lang si Yuseff talaga namang nagulo na nya ng husto ang payapa at tahimik kong buhay.
