Chapter Nineteen: "Run Devil Run"

 "Ho-How are you still?" I asked Cody who didn't removed his look on me. I don't know what to say, I've seen ghosts before but there's something different about him. He's mad.

 "Where's my sister? You let them take her" he replied.

 "I'm sorry Cody ... I really am. I'll do anything to get them back" I replied. The emptiness that I feel because of Allison and Charlie's disappearance have suddenly magnified. My heart is beating fast, so much that I think I'm either dying or going nuts.

 "Ben? What are you doing?" I turned around and saw Dad standing behind me.

 "I ... I" I said and then turned around only to find that Cody's gone.

 "You're leaving again without saying goodbye? How many times are you planning to do that?" he asked me.

 "What the?" I uttered and then Dad grabbed my bag.

 "We still ahve more things to talk about. I promise you, I'll help you find Allisona nd Charlie but for now, we have to go back" Dad said. I know I have no choice so I just nodded and walked back in with him.

 "How do you know I was there?" I asked Dad while trying to shake off the ghostly event that I just encountered.

 "Let's just say I had a sense that you're leaving because of the writing on the wall" he replied and then sighed.

 "Dad, the only reason I came back here is to warn you about Pres. Hathaway. I need to leave as soon as possible and look for my family" I uttered in almost frustration. I can't believe he doesn't understand how much I miss my family.

 "I know, but aren't you worried?. The mole knows you're here and it seems like whoever that bastard is , it's welcoming you"

 "That's exactly why I have to go Dad" I pleaded and then he let out a sigh and looked me in the eyes and asked me to leave in the morning.

 "I miss you Ben. Your brothers miss you too. I promise we'll help look for Allison and Charlie. He's my grandson, I wouldn't let anything bad happen to him" Dad reassured.

 "There you are" we both looked in front of us and saw Anne. "Hey Ben" she greeted and I smiled. A few minutes later, Dad left me in the room. I just laid there and tried to make a plan on how to catch the mole.

Allison's P.O.V

 We are about to return to my quarters when I suddenly saw Karen walking towards us. "Our masters are here. Bring her to them" she ordered the skitter and then left.

 "What's happening?" I asked the skitter but it didn't answered me. He just gave me a look and then grabbed my arm as we started walking towards the huge room.

 "She's here my masters" Karen told the Overlords. They all turned on me and I was ordered to step forward.

 "You can resist the influence of eyebugs , they find it interesting. Now, they wanna see if the harness completely works on you" Karen said while looking at me.

 "Crap" I thought to myself. I'm sure as soon as they find out that I'm still here, something more terrible will happen to me. I was having a really hard time trying to stand still because I'm too busy shaking from their stares.

 Karen may have noticed it but she didn't say a word, maybe I could get by. After a few more seconds, I can feel something weird.

 "Oh God" I just realized that they're trying to invade my brain. I don't know what to do, I'm trying my best to keep them off but the influence of the harness is stronger than me. After a few tries, they were able to get in. They saw everything in my mind, but I also did experienced the same thing.

 The mind of the overlords aren't completely walled off, I can see some of their thoughts. Including a plan to put a grid on the entire world so that the Volm's army can't get in.

 Just a few more moments and I was ordered to go back to my quarters. "Sorry Ben , sorry everyone" I thought to myself because I knew I just screwed them over.

  A few hours have passed. I stayed in my room because I'm too annoyed to go out. Aside from the whispers and the weight of their stares, just the lingering feeling that they're thinking you're a bad person is just too much. Matt drops in every thirty minutes just to check in. I told him that I won't be leaving but he said he's just following Dad's orders.

I don't ujnderstand why he doesn't want me to find my family. I laid there in bed, frustrated. I turned to my side and saw my only picture with Allison. And I just can't help it. Tears slowly started coming out of my face. I miss them so damn much.

 Suddenly, I heard the door opened. I looked and saw a figure covered in black body suit. I got up as fast as I could as it ran away. It's the mole.

 "Someone stop it!" I yelled but there's no one around. I ran after the mole, determined to get him once and for all. We both took a turn and he ended up going on the back exit. That place is still unguarded that's why if the mole makes it to the forest, he's completely gone and unreachable. I grabbed a metal rod on my way and threw it as hard as I can towards the running figure. It turned around and easily dodged it.

 Just like that, it got out and went to the darkness of the night. But I didn't stopped there, I still went in.

 After a few minutes, I returned back to the building, unable to catch the Espheni spy. While I was walking back to my room, I bumped into Lourdes.

 "Hey Ben" she greeted and then smiled.

 "Hi .. what happened?" I asked her after I saw how sweaty she is. "I ... I mean Anne and I had to operate three soldiers" she said and then started walking away from me.

 "You're doing a good job!" I yelled.

 Lourdes turned around, smiled and said "I know".

 I have this strange feeling telling me to be careful of Lourdes, but why? she's Lourdes .. she's supposed to be harmless ... right?.
