Chapter Sixteen: "Royals"

 "Run!" I told Natalie and then helped her get up. We have to get away from here as fast as possible. "What the hell did you do?" she asked while we're running for our lives.

 "The Overlord saw me" I uttered, we can both hear the Mega Mechs following us, we have to gain more distance or else the Overlord will be able to control us.

 As we continued to run, the Mechs started firing. Everything around is exploding. "Keep your head down!" I told Natalie who took cover behind a boulder, she's reaching for her guns. "We're not gonna make it to the cave!!" she said.

 "We'll die if we stay here!"

 "We have no choice" Natalie replied.

 I crouched behind a tree, we waited for the Mechs to come closer. She's right, we're not gonna make it that far, we're gonna have to fight here. She threw a gun towards me, I was able to catch it and started bracing myself for what's gonna happen. I closed my eyes and just imagined Allison and Charlie's smiling faces, I need to see them .. I'm longing for my family.

 "Benjamin are you ready?" she asked.

 "What did you call me?"

 "Benjamin"

 "That's not my name" I said as we both started firing at the Mechs who were searching the area. "It's not? Oh well I like it, I'm gonna call you that" she replied.

 "Why does everyone keep doing that?" I asked myself as Natalie and I decided to part ways just to distract the Mechs. She went to the west side while I ran all the way back to the road, It's difficult because the Overlords might be there waiting but there's just no other way out from here.

 Their sense becomes stronger and stronger as I reached the road. I turned around and saw that no one is following me, they must have followed Natalie.

 "Crap" I thought to myself as I sprinted back to her direction. "Natalie!" I called out but no one's answering, I can hear the Mech sounds and gunshots but that's it. Suddenly, she appeared out of nowhere and grabbed my arm and continued to run.

 "Are you alright?"

 "Yes" she replied, panting.

 "What happened?"

 "I gave them something to shoot okay?"

 "What is it?"

 "I threw a rock and they followed the sound" she uttered, Natalie's smart after all. We were able to return to the cave, as much as I felt so helpless ... there's nothing I could do about it. "I'm sorry for not protecting you" I told her.

 "It's okay .. you don't have any weapons" she replied and then smiled at me.

 "Can you still feel them?" she asked.

 "Nope" I answered. It's weird because I can still feel them just a second ago and now they just disappeared.

 "That's one different"

 "What do you mean?" I asked her.

 "They're stronger ... more terrifying" she uttered.

Allison's P.O.V

 I was trying to formulate a plan to escape this place when the doors opened and Karen walked in. "Get up" she commanded and so I did. It's not that I'm scared of her, it's just that I know I have no other choice.

 "What's going on?" I asked her.

 "They wanna talk to you" she said, smiling. Karen lead me out of my room and headed towards the main hall. I took this opportunity to study the place and find where Charlie could be or possible exits. I have to do something, I can't wait for Ben anymore, what the hell happened to him anyway?.

 "As you wish my master, here she is" Karen uttered and pushed me in front of them. I can't understand what they're saying to each other but just the fact that the beings who murdered the whole planet are right here before my eyes is enough to make me go weak.

 "I know you're scared but you shouldn't be" I looked at Karen, her spikes are glowing which means they're talking through her.

 "Why not? You help me captive for weeks. You took my son away" I said sharply.

 "I know, but this is for a greater purpose. I'm sorry if it caused you any inconvinience. As you may have realized already, you're different. You're not human, but you're also not an alien"

 "Karen made that clear every single day" I muttered.

 "Then she's doing her job. Allison, you're gonna be with your son soon. We just need to do one more thing" Karen uttered, moving closer to me.

 "What .. What is it?" I asked, terrified.

 "We're going to harness you" she said.

 "What???! No!!! No!!" I screamed as skitters took hold of me. I felt Karen inject something and everything else started to blur. I can feel myself falling down. What's gonna happen to me now?

 The rest of our journey to Charleston has been pretty quiet. I found a good Harley which we rode all the way there. And when I leave, I'll be using it too.

 "So here it is, Charleston" I told Natalie who smiled in amazement. We entered the camp and all eyes were on us. They don't have to talk, I can sense that there's something wrong.

 "What's going on?" Natalie asked just as I saw Dad running towards us.

 "We'll find out" I uttered and ran towards him. But before I could even say anything, I was greeted with a hard slap across the face. "What the hell?" I thought to myself as I looked at his enraged face.
