After seeing the enemy put up their tower right at the heart of the city, Ben and I gathered all the useful things we can carry and headed out to the woods. The further we can get ourselves from the tower , the better.  We still haven't figured out whether to go back to the Charleston camp and tell everyone about it or proceed to the mission.

I'm sure they're all mad at us, for leaving without even saying goodbye. And if we go back there, tehre's a huge chance we won't be able to get back on the road right away. Our time is running out, we need to find Charlie or Karen might have complete control over him.  "Are we far enough?" I asked Ben as we're trekking the woods while holding flashlights.

"I don't know. Maybe about a mile. Why? Are you tired?" he asked me.

"No. I'm just wondering" I replied and then continued walking. We both decided to continue on our journey but through the woods instead. In this way, we'll have more cover and we might be able to find a cave where we could spend the night in. After a few minutes, we settled down under the massive Red Oak Tree.

"The night's getting cold. Did you grab a sweater?" Ben asked.

"Yes" I said as I brought out a massive sweater, it's getting really chilly that's why I decided to put it on. "We really need to find a place where we can stay. Ben , under this tree will not be enough. We need cover" I said and then looked at him.

After a few minutes, he left me under the tree to look for something to cover us. He did reminded me though to be alert since it's dark, something might come up.

I closed my eyes and tried to see Charlie's smiling face. As weird as he is, he's my son and I love him so much.

Suddenly, I heard a movement around me. I opened my eyes, got up and pointed my gun at the darkness. "Who's there?" I asked as I started looking around. My heart's beating fast, what if skitters come in? What if Ben never comes back?

And through the moonlight someone stepped in front of me, I saw through the faint light that it's a little girl. As creeped out as I am, I tried to keep my composure.

"Hello there? What's your name?" I asked and then put the gun down, I still ahve my finger on the trigger just in case she turns out to be something else. You'll never know these days who's who.

"Caroline" she said and then smiled. Caroline then took another step forward that's why I took a step back.

 "Are you scared?" she asked.

 "No"

"That's good" she uttered and then gave me a tight hug. Maybe it's mother's instict or something, but I felt something in her. All my doubts about her disappeared and she seemed like a nice kid anyway.

"What are you doing here? Where are your parents?" I asked Caroline.

"Allison, who's that?" I looked on and saw a confused Ben pointing his gun at Caroline.

====================================

"Who's that?" I asked Allison, I think it's weird how a kid will show up in the middle of the dark woods. "It's okay Ben. Her name is Caroline" she replied and then smiled at me.

I moved closer to them and asked the kid to step away from her. "What are you doing here?" I asked the little kid who just kept smiling at me. "I sneaked out. Mom's pretty busy cooking and I wanna see the pink ball of lights" she uttered and then I looked at Allison.

Mom? It means there are other survivors in here?. "Where's your camp?" I asked the kid. "It's not a camp. It's just a house. Come with me" she said and then ran away from us. "Should we follow her?" Allison asked.
