Chapter Twenty Seven : "Triangle"

Allison's P.O.V

 I'm really uncomfortable with Natalie, I don't know why. A couple of hours have passed and I decided to go to Cody's grave to talk to him about a couple of things that are going on. Placing a mat on top of the ground, I sat down and placed a candle at the top of his gravestone. Then I pulled out my lighter and light it up.

 "How are you bud?" I asked as a tear escaped out of my eye and fell down to my lap. I wiped my eyes and tried to smile because I know Cody hates when I'm crying.

 "You must be having a blast with Mom and Dad huh?. Can you ask them to guide me please?" I uttered. I don't know if I'm that bad that this had to be my punishment, I just want a quiet life for once. But because of everything that's going on, I don't think that it's gonna happen anytime soon.

 "I miss you Allison" someone said. My heart froze, could it be?. I looked behind me and saw him smiling. "Cody" I uttered and then smiled, because of an alien invasion ... me seeing the ghost of my dead brother is not so weird anymore ... actually it feels more normal. Within a blink of an eye, he appeared beside me, "How's everything?" he asked.

 "Not good. I still don't have your nephew" I replied.

 "That's okay ... you'll get him soon"

 "You think so?" I asked

 "Yeah" he replied and then smiled at me.

 "I talked to Ben couple of days ago" he said

 "Did he freaked out?"

 "A bit" he replied, I can't help but smile at the thought of that.

 "What did you tell him?"

 "Nothing. I just expressed how mad I am that you're still with Karen"

 I just couldn't help it at that moment, I started crying. "I miss you Cody, I miss you so much" I whispered. "It's okay ... I'll always be here watching over you" he replied. I opened my eyes and saw that he's gone. I got up and looked around but he's nowhere in sight.

 "Allison?" I turned around and saw Denny standing a couple of feet away from me.

 "What?" I asked

 "Nothing. Oh my God are you crying?" she asked as she rushed to me and gave me a hug. And there I found myself breaking down in her arms.

 "It's okay to cry .. just let it all out" Denny whispered and so I did. I can't do this anymore.

 "You're lucky Ben" Natalie said while we're both at the new infirmary loading our guns. "Why'd you say so?" I asked, looking at her.

 "Because you're young and you already figured it out"

 "Figured it out?" I asked.

 "Yeah. You have your own family" she replied as she moved closer to me to reach some ammunition for her handguns. "You're right but my son is still with Karen, remember?" I asked.

 "I know. But still, you're lucky enough that you met the person you're supposed to end up with after the attacks. Most of us are done" she uttered as she put the guns on their cases around her body. "I'm sure that your special someone is still alive. Maybe it's Matt" I joked and she laughed a bit.

 "If only it's legal" she replied and then winked.

 "Of course it is. You're only a few years ahead of him" I said and received a playful punch on the shoulder. "I'm telling the truth" I said and then she opted for another one, but this time I was able to garb her arm and accidentally pushed her towards me ... our lips ended up meeting each other on the process. Both of our eyes widened as we pulled away.

 "I'm sorry I didn't mean to" I said but she ran away.

 A couple of minutes have passed and then I heard Denny calling out my name. "Why?" I asked as I got out of the infirmary, "the Rebel Leader wants to talk to you" she said and so I nodded and followed to the Skitter Camp where I found their leader already connected to one of the kids. Allison is sitting in front of him.

 "What's going on?" I asked.

 "I have to tell something important" he said and so I did.

 "Didn't you feel that strong sense of power?" he asked.

 "No ... why?" I asked

 "I felt one and it's not good"

 "Why?" Allison asked. 

 "It's from your son Charlie and it's too powerful" he replied. My eyes widened and then demanded him to tell more.

 "All I know is that every few centuries, the Espheni will choose an honorary Overlord among their slaves. In our case, in seems like they've already chosen among the humans" he said, my heart dropped. "Please not Charlie" I thought to myself.

 "And is it Charlie?" Allison asked.

 "I'm not sure. But it could be one of you"

 "One of us?"

 "Yes. You, Ben and Charlie is a very important part of the equation. You're mor epowerful than you think you are .. and so are Ben and Charlie" he told her. I can feel Allison started shaking so I held her hands to calm her down.

 "We're losing time are we?" I asked and then nodded.

 "What do you mean Ben?" Allison asked.

 "We have to save Charlie or else he'll be the next Overlord"

Allison's P.O.V

 I almost fainted again bec. of the Leader's revelation. "How are we gonna get him?" I asked Ben as soon as out meeting with the leader is over.

 "I don't know. We're gonna have to talk to Dad about this. Oh there they are" he replied and pointed to Tom and Capt. Weaver who are making their way towards us. "Hi Ben. I have some news" he told him.

 "What is it Dad?" Ben asked.

 "We're attacking the Boston Tower a day after tomorrow".

 "Can we save Charlie by then?" I asked Ben, he then looked at his Dad. "We have no other option but try our best" he told me. Then I must practice more, I need to get my son back and our time is running out.
