Chapter Thirty Four: "Break Loose"

Allison's P.O.V

  I felt it like it was a kill switch.  Someone screamed his name and I knew something bad had happened. I turned around and saw Ben as he fell down. My heart dropped and it's like the whole world stopped, ever since we met he's been protecting me. Seeing him fall like this completely breaks everything.

 "Hide behind those rocks" I told Charlie and thankfully he did. I have to help Ben. I ran as fast as I could and broke down as I was closer.

 "Ben!"

 I knelt on his side and saw his wound that he obtained from the knife that  Karen is holding. I lost it at that moment. Everyone around me except for Ben started floating in the air. "Allison!" I heard Maggie screamed.

 But I can't control it anymore, I can't save anyone.

 A sly smile erupted from Karen's lips so I decided to take her out first by impaling her against the pointy branch of tree. Everyone gasped as the sharp piece of wood pierced through her chest. She's dead instantly. I got down and held Ben close to my arms

 All of a sudden, it's like my power knows what to do. Those who were not on my side got torn into pieces. I can't control it anymore. Tom, Hall, Matt, Maggie and the rest were thrown back to the ground. "I'm really sorry" I uttered while crying.

 Everyone gathered around us, Tom got down to his knees to check his pulse. The look on his face tells nothing but a bad news. His tears started falling as he looked on me.

 "Please .." I begged. Hoping for him to say that Ben's still alive. "Allison ... he's gone".

 My heart broke and everything seemed to stop. Ben's dead, I can't believe he's dead.

Matt's P.O.V

 Before I fell to the ground, Hal was able to catch me. Tears are streaming down endlessly off of our faces. Hal's crying so hard as well. I can't believe Ben's dead, I can't believe his life will end just like that.

 It's like the whole world stopped right at this moment, we lost my brother ... the person I look up to a lot ... one of the greatest persons and fighters anyone will ever meet. We moved closer to Dad as he broke down in our arms. We surrounded him and Allison.

 I saw the 2nd Mass's faces around us, they're broken as well.

 "Everything's gonna be fine" Dad whispered, trying to keep all of us together. A few seconds after, Allison stood up just as Charlie came into our view. He ran towards us, as soon as he saw Ben's body he got down to his knees and touched his forehead.

 "I'm sorry honey, but he's dead" Allison said, still crying.

 "He is, but there's still a way to bring him back" Charlie replied. All of us were startled by his revelation. "Bring him back? how?" Hal asked.

 "They used a special knife to stab him. It's dipped in Espheni poison. We can bring him back to life but it comes with a price"

 "What is it?"

 "The process of his DNA shifting from human to Espheni will go into rapid mode"

 "What are you talking about?" Dad asked, obviously not buying his story. "There's still a way to bring my father back to life. But if we do so, he's gonna be an Espheni. Not a hybrid ... not a human ... he's gonna be one of us. One of the Esphenis"
