The Third Queen

Years and Bloody Night

5 years have passed since the destruction of the "Red Shield " ship. And the sudden disappearance of the "Third Queen " Leia. After the burning remains of the ship rescues teams were in full swing. Searching through the charred debris of the ship in search of survivors. In search of Leia. No one could believe that she had met her demise that horrible night. And deep down Kai believed the samething. But Saya...Saya was a whole other story. After they could not find any signs of life,Saya too disappeared along with Hagi. Leaving the Red Shield alone to come up with a way to eradicate the Chiropterins without their strongest weapon. Saya.

It surprised everyone especially Kai but he already had seen the signs. He saw how quiet and lifeless she became. Saya had stopped speaking and merely concentrated on killing Chiropterins. It was almost as if the life had faded from Saya. She was no longer the smiling girl Kai had grown to know and love like a sister. No. She was more of a weapon who cared not if she was injured. All she wanted to do. All she could do was kill Chiropterins. To Saya that was all she could do right.

Watching Saya walk away into the midst of darkness with Hagi by her side caused quite a stir within Red Shield. Even now the organization went on a global search in search for traces of Saya but came up empty handed. The only thing they could find were the crystallized corpses of fallen Chiropterins. But we're they killed by Saya...or Leia? Leia. Kai recalled that cold night on the ocean. Watching the burning ship from afar. Yet the loud clanging of blades sounded throughout the area. She was fighting. Leia was fighting.

She easy fighting for herself. Fighting for her new friends. Her family,and the desire to let them live. Even if it was the cost of her wellbeing. With the flames flickering in his eyes Kai watched as Leia was forced to the ground by Diva immobile. Leia's eyes wide in fear as she blade was brought down upon her. Kai remembered screamed her name repeatedly. And going so far as to jump into the cold ocean,swimming towards the burning ship. He knew he could die but it did not matter to him. He had to get to her. He had to save her.

Kai could recall climbing the side of the burning ship,feeling the pieces of shattered wood sinking into his fleash. But it mattered not. He was so close. So close to her. Kai pulled himself over the side of the ship choking on the ash in the air. But that's when he saw it. The body of Leia which lay sprawled across the ground. Her eyes wide with those lavender orbs staring at him. Blank and devoid of any life. "Leia!"Kai screamed as he rushed over to Leia's side,pulling her body into his arms.

He stroked her cheek,feeling how soft she was. And realizing she was already cold to the touch. With large wounds covering her body she was a bloody mess. But to Kai even in the state she was utterly beautiful. Kai always dreamed of holding her so closely, feeling her breathe on his neck. And her soft lips on his own. But it appeared the fate was cruel. Kai studied her face,remembering every single detail. He wondered how such an innocent looking woman could possibly be a warrior. How someone like her had lost her life for others.

Someone who never truly got the chance to enjoy life. Tears slithered down Kai's cheeks as he released a pain filled cry into the night air. This was it. This was the nightmare which he had lived constantly over and over for so many years. If only he had stayed. If only he wasn't so weak then maybe,maybe she would be alive. Maybe Kai could have seen Leia smile once more. Maybe he could have been the source of her happiness. But he would never know. Now Kai would have to live with his guilty conscious and pray that he could redeem himself.

And Kai would get that opportunity quicker than he realized. For in New York the current location of the Red Shield there had been a steady rise in Chiropterin activity. David's conclusion was in fact that Diva was somewhere in the city and was creating these new evolved Chiropterins. The only questions was why? Kai quickly slipped on his white jacket and loaded his pistol before running out into the night with David and Lewis by his side. It was true that mere bullets would not be able to kill these beasts. But then again they were not carrying normal weapons.

No. In fact their pistols had been crafted specifically to eradicate the Chiropterins. It took more bullets and skill but somehow they were able to keep them at bay. But for how long? How long could they defend these people without a Queen? Without Saya? Shaking away these thoughts Kai crept through the the dark allies of the city,listening for the animalistic growl of their prey. And soon enough he heard it. It's loud growl vibrating off the walls of the alley. The creatures crouched down over the mutilated body of a blonde woman's.

Who's we eyes were wide in fear as the monster devoured her from the inside out. Her arteries splattered onto the ground around her as the monster gorged itself on her organs. Steadying his heart and breathing Kai aimed his pistol at his prey deciding to act while it was distracted with its meal. Signalling David the two men began to shower the beast with bullets. Watching as the bullets merely ricocheted off its body. Startling the men. Yes the Chiropterins were becoming more evolved but bullet proof? What was going on?

"Kai run!"David called out as the men darted through the alleyways. With the angry Chiropterin on their heels. Kai ran as fast as his feet could carry him,jumping over tipped over trashcans and more but the creature kept getting closer and closer. And with a loud roar the Chiropterin dug it's claws into Kai's back ceasing his movement. Kai dropped his gun and released a ragged breathe as his blood began to pour creating a puddle at his very feet. He could feel the Chiropterins breathe on his neck as it dug it's nails deeper into Kai's delicate flesh hitting his vitals.

Immediately Kai coughed up blood,feeling his vision becoming blurry. Was this it? Was this truly how he was going to die? Being killed by the monster he had tried his best to kill? Without avenging Rikku? Without seeing Leia? Gritting his teeth Kai weakly slumped to his knees,already feeling his body becoming limp. Angrily David showered the Chiropterin with bullets,hoping to give Kai a chance escape. But it did little good as the monster threw David against the wall causing the man to gasp in pain.

They should have known better they were no match for these monsters. Kai smiled weakly towards David,surrendering to his death. But the moment he was about to close his eyes Kai heard the vicious monster release a roar in utter pain. David's eyes stared in shock as he spotted a black cloaked figure appear before them who with the mere swing of their blade sliced off the Chiropterins hand freeing Kai from its grip. Kai fell to the ground his blurred vision struggling to focus on the figure before him. The person was obviously female and skilled with the blade, but who was it? Who had saved them? Was it Saya?
