it wasn't long before they came across something strange. A small yellow butterfly which fluttered in place.
"Wait a tic, wasn't this butterfly in the median?" England asked, taking a closer look at it. Yup, that was the very same butterfly, except it was fluttering towards the south this time. Russia bent down to look at it closer.
"Aw, he's following us~" He cooed.
"Such a delicate creature doesn't belong in a place such as this." France said, taking a more poetic take on this.
"Mm..." The butterfly suddenly turned to Germany, fluttering towards him. The german simply stared at it, but it was as if it was the most important thing in the world.
"Germany-san?" Japan asked, noticing this. Germany didn't answer. America took a step towards it, bending down to look at it.
"Heh! I think it likes you dude!" He said loudly. "I wish it'd land on my hand!" He held his hand out, as if inviting the butterfly to land on it. "Come on, lil guy!!"
"Knock it off. We need to get going." England scolded. They were about to head out before Germany stopped them.
"...Wait." He said suddenly. As he said this, a soft light began emitting from the butterfly.
"A-Ai-yah! Is it glowing?!" China asked, jumping back a bit. The light grew brighter, until a large flash of blinding light appeared. When it faded, the butterfly had disappeared.
"Bloody hell, what was that?!" England was the first to react.
"Tch!! A-ah!" That was all Japan could manage, looking more than a bit surprised. He looked absolutely horrified.
"Japan!!" Germany yelled, rushing back over to his friend.
"You okay, bro!?" America asked, also worried for the older nation. Japan took several deep, shaky breaths.
"Ah...I feel..." He trailed off. taking several more breaths.
"...Something feels off." England said. He also looked as worried as Japan did.
"What just happened?" France asked, glancing over at England. China let out a yell, checking their bag.
"What's this in our bag?" He asked, digging into it. Russia went over, looking into the bag and letting out a cry too, but this one happy.
"Food and water!" He said. "Goodness, that little thing just gave us some gifts! Slightly suspicious but this is good!"
"Suspicious indeed." England agreed. "But we should be careful just in case these are poisoned. Can't get something for nothing, after all."
"If anything, if they are poisoned we can just sell them at the fairy store." Russia pointed out. "Maybe exchange it for...weapon? Item or something?" America laughed.
"Ahaha!! You're making it sound like we're in a game!" He pointed out.
"Hm? It's gone. I don't remember it flying away..." Germany suddenly said.
"My chest hurt when it flashed like that. I am not sure why." Japan mentioned, holding a hand to his chest. Germany turned back to him, worried once again.
"Are you going to be alright?" He asked.
"Hai. I'm starting to feel better." Japan answered, standing straighter. "A little less...uh...sad, at least." China walked over, putting a hand on Japan's shoulder.
"Ai-yah, we've only just gotten here, don't feel so bad about yourself." His older brother advised. Japan stayed silent, looking up at him.
"Come on, we have to keep going." England said.
