Sophie / Jess
"Soph, I just don't know what to do. I am fuming." Jess sighed as she paced back and forth in Sophie's living room.
Herself and Sophie's course mate Felix had come over after receiving many pleading phone calls and texts. Although neither of them had agreed with what she was planning, they went along with it anyway as she wasn't allowing their opinions to be processed in her mind.
Sophie still felt down about her many arguments with Aaron and even though Jess had insisted she take some time to herself and hoped Aaron would be the one to confront Sophie, she wasn't up for it. Instead, she wanted to put together something to show that she was sorry for not showing up to his fight and to congratulate him on his win.
While they were setting things up though, conversation had very quickly moved on to Jess and her night with Jack. This had then lead Jess to explain everything, making sure to not miss out any details, even including this afternoon.
"Confront him. Don't let him get away with acting like an idiot. If he wants to spend time with you, he needs to have some respect." Sophie insisted and the authority in her voice was something Jess wished she could have around Jack.
There was something about him that made her go weak and high school girlish when she was actually a 21-year-old woman.
"But then he will know I overheard his conversation..."
"And?"
"Soph has a point but I wouldn't just confront him, I'd tell him you're done with his shitty games." Felix added as he sat back down on the sofa, crossing one leg over the other.
Felix wasn't Jack's biggest fan, nor any of the guys who lived in that household including Aaron so therefore, his advice had always been to stay away. However, it seemed as though no one ever listened and it was made obvious at the fact that Sophie was still with Aaron a year later.
"Boys like that are not worth your time darling. You deserve better."
Nodding her head, Sophie let go of the balloon that she was trying to tie ribbon onto before making her way over to sit beside Jess on the floor.
"Felix is right..." Sophie began before she was instantly interrupted.
"...even though she never listens to me when it comes to Aaron Harris." He looked at his friend with a teasing expression, causing Sophie to laugh.
"They're all so far up their own arses and Jack's probably the worst of the lot."
"But that's the thing... he seemed so genuine last night. The guy that I saw this morning wasn't anything like the guy I was with last night."
Sighing, Sophie knew she would have to lay this all out on the table for Jess for her to be able to fully make a decision. Herself and Felix could easily tell her to walk away from him but they knew that it wasn't so easy. Not only was Jack extremely convincing and had something about him that made you want him no matter what, Jess also couldn't help her feelings.
"Jack comes with a lot of baggage. He has a lot going on in his personal life that he doesn't speak about and he masks it with this behaviour." As Sophie began, she instantly made Jess curious, as she hadn't been expecting this. "He never used to be this bad but something went on in first year that made him this way. It's a distraction, it's a way to make him feel good when on the inside, he is probably far from it."
Sophie didn't know the full story but she had picked up some things based on what Aaron had said. She knew that something had happened when they first began Uni that caused Jack to completely go off the rails and pick up a new persona that didn't match his old one.
