Juliet
"How did it go?" Bella asked down the phone as Juliet laid out on her bed, staring up at the ceiling.
Today had felt extremely long for many different reasons and she was about ready to just get a good night's sleep. She knew her teacher was going to bring her grades up, that was inevitable however, there had been a small bit of hope within her that she may have made it a little more subtle.
That had not been the case and instead she had made it blunt and clear to Sophie what was going on. Even though she was slightly frustrated, she was also relieved as it was out in the open. Juliet wouldn't have said anything herself if it hadn't have been brought up so she guessed it was better this way.
"Soph knows my grades are shit at the moment."
"Oh damn, is she angry?"
"No." Juliet shook her head. "She felt bad more than anything."
"See, this is why having your sister as your guardian is much better then parents. Mine would have kicked off for sure."
Juliet knew that Bella was right. She was lucky that Sophie had handled the whole thing so well but she also knew that having her sister feeling guilty could potentially be worse than her being mad.
It wasn't Sophie's fault. It was their parents fault for putting a 21 year old in the position of looking after her sister when she should be out living her life.
"What about Brad? Did you see him?"
Juliet was cringing the moment Bella mentioned his name as all thoughts of that evening spent with him alongside tonight at the parents evening, flooded her mind. She didn't want to relive any of it and she wished more than anything that she could just turn back time.
"Yeah and I was trying to avoid but him but Sophie walked right over."
"Shit, no way!" Bella gasped and Juliet knew without seeing her best friend that she would be up on her feet and pacing the room by now. "Did he say anything?"
"No. He briefly looked at me and that was it. I feel so embarrassed Bell."
"Don't you dare! Don't let him make you feel like that. He's an arse."
"But come on, I made a fool out of myself."
Things at the fight had ran smoothly and getting to watch it with the guy she liked from school had been perfect. However, the moment they had gone back to his with his brother's friends, it had taken a completely different turn.
It was something that continued to play over and over in Juliet's mind, even more so when she was lying in bed at night so she was struggling to avoid the memories.
"No you didn't, he's just an idiot. I would have done the exact same as you." Bella tried to reassure her best friend but truthfully, nothing was going to work.
"What if he tells people? I don't want people knowing."
"He's not going to but if he does, get Aaron to put him in his place. That boy can fight."
"Great idea Bell." Juliet remarked sarcastically as the topic of Aaron ruined her mood even more.
She knew after her conversation with Sophie in the car that her sister was finally deciding what she wanted to do. Her relationship with Aaron had started off well but after a few months in, it had been a bumpy mess and it was making her miserable.
Therefore, she had been making it pretty clear that as much as she may not want to, a break up might be what was best. She couldn't keep living in a rut of boyfriend issues and she needed to start doing things for herself that would give her the best experience at uni.
