"I shouldn't be here." Sophie muttered as she let her body relax into Aaron's as they pushed their way through the crowds. "I need to be with Juliet."
"She's fine Soph. She needs a night off from this mess just as much as you do." Aaron replied while pulling her that little bit closer to him.
It was a few days after the truth had been revealed about Andrew and things had been tense. When the sisters had gone home to confront their parents, they had been left a note claiming they had to head back to New York on short notice. The timing couldn't have been any better for the pair who had spent years lying to their daughters and it was pretty obvious that was the reason they made their quick escape.
After spending the past few days cooped up inside, while trying to make sense of the situation together, Juliet had been the first to claim she needed to get out. She couldn't remain inside running the events in her head over and over again for much longer. She would drive herself crazy if she did that.
Therefore, her best friend Bella had insisted they head to a friend's party that was happening tonight. It hadn't taken much to persuade Juliet on the idea either as Matt Russle had been mentioned as one of the guys who would be attending. She knew she couldn't miss it.
So after dropping Juliet off, Sophie and Aaron had come back to his for the party that Jack had managed to set up on very short notice to celebrate the start of a new semester for them all.
"But what if she gets upset or something. I should be at home in case she calls."
"Babe." Aaron suddenly brought them both to a stop and placed his hands either side of her face. "She will be fine. She told you not to worry or call, so just let her have a good night."
Aaron knew how desperate Juliet was to spend a night forgetting about everything. She had pleaded with him before she left to ensure that Sophie didn't come charging over to pick her up at 11pm. Therefore, he was making it his job to keep his fiancee well and truly occupied for the sake of her sister but also herself.
"This is the first time we've been able to enjoy a night together without me having to think about training."
"I know but..." Sophie tried to argue him on this but Aaron cut her short.
"But nothing. I'll be back in the gym again in a few days so let's just have fun."
Holding his hand out for Sophie to take, Aaron waited for her to give in before playfully twirling her around. Then urging her back into his body, Aaron continued to sway them side to side as laughter filled Sophie's body at their incredibly out of sync dancing, to a repetitive thump that was classed as music.
"Okay, okay! Fine!" Sophie stressed, admiring that beautiful smile that had formed across Aaron's face but then also watching it drop the moment a loud voice began calling his name.
"Ay, look who it is! The all-famous Aaron Harris!" The male shouted as he and a few others made their way towards them.
The minute Sophie caught sight of them she didn't really need to question how they knew him. Their bulked up physiques and the buzzed hair was a pure giveaway that they came from the fighting world.
"I thought you fucking lived in the gym!" The guy with tattoos scaling up his neck, who went by the name of Warren, mocked as he shared a brief but stern handshake with Aaron.
"Nah, I think I deserve a few nights off." Aaron retorted, displaying his voice in a playful manner yet Sophie could feel the tension behind it.
She couldn't quite work this exchange out but she could tell that there was something very off about it.
