Jess/Sophie:

"Wow, you actually made it in." The voice of Aaron was heard before Sophie felt his arms wrap around her shoulders from behind.

Turning her head to look up at him, she couldn't help but laugh at the challenging expression across his face. This morning when they had woken up, Sophie had completely refused to get out of bed. She'd been too tired and too comfy to move so when Aaron left for a lecture, he guessed she wouldn't have bothered coming in. However, to his surprise, she was sat here actually attempting to do some work.

"I was so close to staying home but remembered that meant spending a day with my parents." Sophie pulled a face in return, as Aaron pulled up a seat beside her.

He was still tempted to mention and question the way her mum had reacted at their first meeting however, he was reluctant due to not wanting to ruin her good mood. She seemed happy to pretend as though it didn't happen so it felt safer to just wait it out for a little longer until she was ready to come to him instead.

"Your eye looks so bad, Aaron."

Now that he was in clear focus, Sophie reached out to run her thumb gently over the bruising. It wasn't unusual for him to come out of a fight with cuts and bruises over his face however, Sophie always tended to avoid him in the past after she knew he had a fight. She hated seeing it therefore, it was usually safer for her to wait until it had slightly faded.

"Well I did happen to have some guy punch me in the face a few times last night, babe. I'd be impressed if I got out without a scratch."

"Well I know but... have you put any ice on it?"

"Yes babe, I'm fine. Don't worry."

Sophie's body cringed at the black shading beginning to form on the skin as it looked incredibly painful. She was going to make a comment on it but had learned from the past that there was no point, as Aaron had a very different approach to the whole thing. He'd always claim that after being a fighter for so long, you just became numb to the pain and no longer felt a thing. However, although that may be true, she still couldn't help but feel every inch of it for him.

"Did you come last night?" Aaron then turned his attention to Jess who began quickly shaking her head. "I thought you would be there with Jack."

He was merely trying to tease her however, it was not appreciated by Jess right now. She knew he was so used to this with girls and Jack and he probably expected Jess to just be a fling. Although he was trying to ease the tension around the whole situation, she wasn't in the mood to joke about something that had her very uncomfortable and on edge. However, before she could respond with something to end the topic, the one person she was hoping to avoid made himself heard.

"Nah, I got rejected." Jack teased, holding a hand to his heart. "She broke this in two."

Jess just watched him for a moment as he also pulled up a seat beside them all at the table.

"I said no to..." Jess began to explain herself before he just interrupted.

"No to the diner, so you would have said no to the fight. It's cool. I forgive you."

Jess wasn't exactly sure what to say in that moment. She couldn't help but feel frustrated after he had acted as though she didn't exist the moment that girl showed up. However, she couldn't admit that to him, so instead felt the need to just force small conversation back while feeling conscious that many eyes were on her.

"I promised my friend we'd spend the evening together." She replied as Jack just nodded.

"Did you have a good night?"
