It was gone midnight by the time Sophie and Aaron had got out of the fight club and back to her house. Aaron's original plans of going to the party had soon disappeared when Sophie had come along to see him and instead they'd decided to spend the evening alone.
Struggling to unlock the door in the dark, it took Sophie a few tries before she pushed it open and began making her way inside. She listened out to see if she could hear the mumbling of the TV or the voices of her parents but heard nothing. Juliet had Bella over, so guessed they'd still be wide awake but she was desperately hoping that her mum and dad were sound asleep.
Living with them had not been easy, not only because this was hers and Juliet's house that they were intruding in on unwelcome, but also because they liked to think they had control. There were many times they had tried to tell Sophie what to do and it had not gone down well.
Making their way down the hall and into the living room, Sophie lightly knocked on the door before going in and feeling complete relief when she was faced with her sister and friend only.
"Hey! You're back." Juliet turned and looked excitedly at her.
Getting up to give her a hug, Juliet was even happier to see Aaron stood behind her. She knew they had been arguing a lot and she knew their relationship was running on thin ice therefore, this was definitely a sign that things were looking up.
"You alright?" Aaron asked as he also urged Juliet into a hug while Bella just stood back with gawping eyes.
Aaron had not only been a rock for Sophie since they had been together but Juliet too. He had been the only boyfriend of Sophie's she had liked and the only one who had made any effort to talk to her. He'd been there for them both through all the tough times and even though he and Sophie argued a lot, his love for them both was undeniable.
"Yeah! Did you have a fight? Your eye looks a bit bruised."
Chuckling, Aaron nodded his head.
"And guess who come to watch me for the first time?" He ran his arm over Sophie's shoulder and squeezed her into his side.
"No way!" Juliet looked between the pair of them in shock while Sophie stuck her tongue out. "I can't believe it! What did you think?"
"I mean..." Sophie began before Aaron interrupted.
"I think she sat in the back with her eyes closed the entire time but she showed up, so that's all that matters."
Turning in his arms, Sophie was shocked that he knew she hadn't watched a single second of it. She'd been scared to tell him due to not wanting to upset him further however, it was clear that her support of being there was enough.
"He was incredible though. He won!" Sophie beamed as she ran her hand down his muscled arm. All she could think about right now was finally getting to sleep wrapped in his arms with peace and no arguments. It had been a long time since they had experienced a calm night within one another's presence so she was going to appreciate every second. She always slept better when he was here, so the thought sent her body to ease already.
"What about you? Are things okay?"
Juliet knew what Sophie meant by her question. She wasn't just casually asking about her night, she wanted an update on her situation at school, especially Brad.
"Things are fine." Juliet's response was short, showing this was the last thing she wanted to go into.
"Are you sure?"
"I'm sure."
Realising it was probably best to leave it and not probe anymore due to them not being alone, Sophie nodded her head before taking hold of Aaron's hand, ready to leave both girls to enjoy their night. However, footsteps were heard which suddenly slapped Sophie back down to the reality of their situation.
