As Juliet wandered around the building she was beginning to wonder why she had even decided to do this. She wasn't all that sure what Toni even looked like so was just working it out based on luck. She wanted to find out as much information on Andrew has possible and this felt like a good place to start. However, now she was actually looking for it, she felt more nervous than anything about approaching the one individual who probably had all the answers.
As she caught sight of a few men who looked a lot older gathered in the corner, she felt the nerves swirl inside of her stomach before picking up speed until she was stopped by a voice grasping her attention.
"Juliet?"
Turning her head it was then she was faced with that recognisable figure, causing her to suddenly fall into panic.
"Matt? Hi!" She stumbled her words, suddenly not feeling so certain that she had the same confidence engraved into her as she held before.
"Hey." He replied with a small smile across his lips while Juliet just looked at him blankly.
She was confused why he was here. She didn't understand what he was doing at a fight, little lone Aaron's. She was so used to seeing him confined to the waiting area of the counselors office, so this all felt slightly strange.
"What are you doing here?" Finally bucking up the courage, she just came right out and said it.
"What are you doing here?" Matt posed the same question back to her with a smirk across his face.
"To watch my sister's boyfriend fight."
"Me too. Aaron Harris right?"
Nodding her head, Juliet didn't know what to do with herself as she stood uncomfortably before him. Since the brief conversation they had shared online, the pair had been speaking outside of the counselling office every week. They didn't always talk about much and sometimes it was as simple as a small 'hi' but it was still something she looked forward to every week.
"How did you get in here now?" Juliet then went onto ask, considering the doors to the fight had not been opened and the supporters were still being held outside.
"They know me at this gym." He replied simply which just perked the interest in her even more.
She felt like she was suddenly coming face to face with more and more people involved in this lifestyle. Before Sophie had got with Aaron, Juliet had even been aware of this gym or how popular it was to those who came to watch. However, since finding out about Andrew, it seemed to be the only thing on her mind and the fact that Matt was a part of it, made it even more intriguing.
"Do you fight?"
"No, no." He instantly began shaking his head. "But my brother used to a while back so they still give us early access."
"Wow, that's so cool."
Matt simply responded to Juliet with a small smile which followed by few moments of silence where neither of them said anything. The quietness was very quickly becoming awkward as no one knew what to say. Moments like this were fine in a loud place as it removed a lot of the pressure however, this gym was practically empty which was making it feel ten times worse.
But considering Juliet wasn't quite ready to walk away from him just yet she was desperately racking her brain for something to say.
"You still never told me why you go to those counselling sessions, you know?" She finally remarked, taking the opportunity to find out a piece of information he had been putting off for the past couple of weeks.
"You never told me either." He responded with a challenging expression across his face.
Since meeting Matt, Juliet had noticed that he was extremely good at asking questions yet not so good at answering them himself. Instead, he always managed to sly his way out of giving over any information and diverted the conversation elsewhere.
"Yeah I did. My grades are bad."
"There is more to it than that. You would have just had a tutor for that."
Juliet sighed as she realised the only way she was going to get anything out of Matt would be if she opened up first. He was stubborn and wouldn't give in until he got the full deal so considering she was so eager to know more about him, she had to give in.
"Okay... I came to a fight when I wasn't supposed to, my grades have been dropping and I have shitty parents." Juliet exclaimed and when he looked at her in question, she knew he was waiting for more. "I live alone with my 21 year old sister and the school doesn't think we are capable and think I need some extra support."
Nodding his head, Matt wasn't giving anything away yet Juliet was desperately searching for some kind of reaction from him. He was so placid and emotionless to something she expected more from in return.
"What about you? Why do you go?"
"I was kicked out of my old school for being disruptive and I also have shitty parents." Matt began to explain so casually, while Juliet was a little taken back.
She hadn't realised he had been kicked out of a previous school. Instead, she had just innocently assumed that he had left for any other alternative reason.
"I also live alone with my brother but he's 32, not 21."
Juliet's eyes widened in curiosity at the last few words Matt spoke. While he was acting so calm and collected, she was holding onto every last word and was making connections without even meaning to.
"Wait... you said your brother was a fighter, right?"
"Yeah."
"And he used to train at this gym?"
"Yeah."
"Did he by any chance know my brother?" Juliet came right out and said it as she wasn't able to stop herself. "He was a fighter and..."
"His name was Andrew, right?" Matt interrupted with a question Juliet had not been expecting so suddenly.
She didn't know how he knew that or how he had been so quick to understand where this conversation was leading. However, she was filled with slight excitement over this completely bizarre conversation which had the potential of giving her more answers than she had gotten from anyone else.
"Yeah, that's right! How did you know that?"
Before Matt was even given chance to answer the question, the voice of Sophie was heard yelling for Juliet as the doors to the building were barged open. Individuals began charging through while pushing and shoving to try and get to the front, while the three of them were very quickly surrounded.
"Come on, we need to go." Sophie took hold of Juliet's hand. "And I have so much to tell you!"
She had barely taken any notice of Matt standing there looking between the two sisters and instead was in more of a panic over getting Juliet out of the crowds. Therefore, as she wrapped an arm over her shoulder, Sophie began rambling off all the details regarding Aaron, leaving Juliet with no other option than to follow.
Although she was buzzing with excitement over everything she was being told, her mind was also full of confusion and the thoughts of Andrew. She didn't understand how Matt had been so quick to know what and who she was referring to but the fact he did, provided her with some hope that he would be able to give her answers.
