"And another..." Corey sang as he passed a drink over to Jess while taking a seat beside her.
Although Jack's strange attitude was on Jess' mind, she had been desperately trying to shrug it off and have a good night. Corey seemed genuinely nice and came with a lot less confusion than Jack did and that was refreshing. When he had picked her up, he had been perfectly on time and not left her hanging around. He had also not darted his eyes to other girls passing by since being here or left her sat alone for 40 minutes by herself.
As the evening progressed, the pair spent the whole of it just chatting. While everyone else was consuming drink after drink, Corey and Jess were unfazed by the events surrounding them. He seemed genuinely interested in everything she was saying, making her feel more comfortable in indulging into detail on the topics that came up. He didn't make her feel nervous and instead she could just relax as every single second between them just flowed beautifully.
"Do you plan on sticking around Brighton once you graduate?" Corey asked the one question that Jess continued to debate daily.
"I want to, yeah... I just don't know what I want to do while here, if you get me?" She chuckled in response and earned a very understanding nod from Corey.
"Completely. I'm from up north so it would be a big commitment to stay but I can't deal with the thought of leaving now."
"I don't think anyone prepares you from the state of confusion you're left in once Uni is over. Everyone seems to have a plan with education up until that point and so we're all left strolling around completely clueless."
"That's so accurate!" Corey began laughing yet it was in that moment, that their own little bubble was popped.
Jack and Aaron's housemates had managed to persuade Sophie in joining them with a drinking game and with Aaron not here, she had been easily persuaded. As a result of the large amount of alcohol consumed, she was well and truly drunk, meaning the filter between her head and mouth had vanished. Therefore, throwing her arm out with very little control, a huge grin appeared across her face.
"You two look so cute." She slurred and Jess' face blushed with embarrassment as many heads turned to look at them. "You'd make such a cute couple."
While Jess was giving Sophie daggers to get her to stop, Corey began chuckling yet he also looked a little embarrassed.
"Alright Sophie, you're pissed." He remarked but she didn't care as she looked at them both in admiration.
"You would though!" She continued, standing to her feet and stumbling over to where they were both sat.
Urging their faces together so they were cheek to cheek, Sophie managed to gather the other guy's attention.
"Don't you think they look good together?"
"Beautiful." Jamie agreed before purposely making the spinning wheel stop on Sophie again, meaning she would have to drink.
"Oh look, you again Soph."
Jess noticed the look in his eyes yet in her non-sober state, Sophie had been oblivious. He had been desperately trying to get her drunk and there was no doubting his success in doing so.
As Jess tried to reach out for her bestfriend and pull her off to the side to try to get her to stop, it was too late. She had already picked up the shot glass and was letting the contents slip down her throat with ease. She was now numb to the taste, compared to the first lot, which had her pulling all sorts of disapproving faces.
"You do make a smashing couple though. I love you both together." Sophie called over one last time before standing against the wall to keep herself upright.
