"How is he?" Jack grasped Sophie's attention as she was walking by.

He was stood with a few friends whose eyes had now turned onto her. Glimpsing over at Jess and Corey where she had previously been heading, Sophie then decided against it and took a spot among the group.

"He's good... just a little nervous."

"There is a lot riding on this fight." Jack replied and Sophie wasn't sure if he knew about the idea Aaron had just mentioned to her. She knew they told each other a lot but she didn't know to what extent or detail.

"Yeah, he's worried because this guy has more experience than him."

"And because he wants to get a ring on your finger." Jack raised his eyebrows teasingly causing Sophie to laugh.

"So he did tell you?" She asked and Jack nodded his head. "I thought you would have talked him out of it."

"Oh trust me, I tried."

Sophie knew that not only would Reck think he was insane, Aaron's friends would too. They were all young and still figuring themselves out so they'd see this as making a move too soon. They would claim he needed to enjoy himself and not openly choose to settle down too soon however, Aaron wasn't going to listen.

"You're a dick."

"I'm joking. I'm happy for you soppy little shits."

As Sophie looked at Jack in doubt, he just began laughing.

"I'm serious. I think it's a risky idea but he's happy... so that's all that matters."

"Wow, did you just say that?" Sophie teased before placing her hands on Jack's arms and shaking him. "Is that really you in there?"

Rolling his eyes, Jack shrugged his shoulders before that cheeky grin appeared on his face. He was usually the friend trying to hold onto everyone's single lives so they wouldn't lose out on the fun. However, for the first time he was actually approving of Aaron's crazy idea and hadn't tried to talk his best friend out of it.

"Are you dating someone we don't know about? Has some girl changed the Jack Lawrence we used to know?"

As Sophie continued to mess around with him, Jack couldn't hold back his laughter. Even he was shocked at himself for not kicking up a fuss yet it hadn't felt like the right thing to do when his best friend was stood confessing his love.

"Dating someone, no." He began before his eyes drifted over to someone in particular. "Is there some girl? Yeah, but one of my fucking 'friends' snuck his way in when my back was turned."

Following his line of vision, Sophie already knew where it was going to end up. He was watching Jess and Corey as they sat chatting and laughing by the bar awaiting the fight to start.

As Jack's eyes remained fully focused on them, Sophie turned her attention back to him and noticed an emotion she hadn't seen before. He was showing some vulnerability, sadness and slight betrayal. His usual careless act that he used as a front and guard had slightly dropped and another side to him was beginning to show.

"You think Corey has betrayed your friendship?" Sophie asked carefully, not wanting to light something in Jack that would be difficult to defuse.

"He brought her to my party a few nights after I nearly slept with the girl, then I go away for 2 weeks and they are fucking dating. That's a shitty thing to do right?"
