(Rachel's POV)

We got to the ski house at eight o'clock. By eight thirty, my mom had hugged Justin nine times and served three different types of dessert cake.

"Mom, please leave him alone"

"Shut up dude" Justin shoved Randy, "I'm eating"

My mother considered Justin a son, and she had a good reason to. Justin and Randy had been raised as brothers. This house was Justin's house. He knew everything about it.

"is that your dad? Yeah it is,"

Justin looked up to my father.

When he was younger he saw my dad more then he saw his. So the reunion was just as joyful.

I stayed by the fire petting a dog that my father had rescued. It was a ski dog and still very young. Justin suggested that we name him 'Pups' and no other name seemed to fit.

"Pups," i agreed out loud, "It suits him"

"Okay, so sleeping arrangements" my mother began "Are we going to do the same old routine?"

"Oh yeah the media room," Justin stood up, "I forgot about that. Randy - come on!"

He ran downstairs with Randy while i stayed by the fire with Pups.

The ski home was three stories high. It had a large basement that had been turned into a downstairs media room. The room was large and modern with soft carpets and a movie-sized projector covering one wall. Will's old music equipment was still down there mixed in with old board games and DVD's. The couches were draped with furry throw over's and soft pillows and the room was welcoming and warm.

"Rache" Justin ran puffing back up the stairs "You cool with sleeping down here?"

I nodded finding no issue with it.

"Good," he scurried back down again, "Randy! She's cool with it!!"

As children we camped out there together. We slept on mattresses that were laid out on the floor side by side each other. We knew that there were seven bedrooms to choose from but there was something comforting about that room and we liked being together.

During the last three years Randy and I never frequented the room. The room had lost its comfort and it's appeal. It wasn't full of life anymore it was very much dead. The room was cold and sad.

But that night it felt the same. There was laughter and smiles as we talked ourselves to sleep. There was excitement for the following day and there was friendship that had been long lost.

I held my stuffed mouse close, whispered my goodnights and drifted off to sleep. The old memories of ski trips past danced in my head. The room was suddenly warm again.

I had never snowboarded before.

I had always skied.

Justin assured me that snowboarding was easy and much more fun the skiing. He promised me his ongoing help and support up on the slopes and aided me in picking out my snowboarding gear.

"No charge" the shop assistant told us, "But would you mind taking a picture?"

Hanging out with Justin had its benefits. Those benefits included hundreds of dollars worth of free snow gear.

"Can you please not publish this photo or show anybody the picture until next week? I just want to have some privacy here with my friends?"

She accepted Justin's request.
