Victor Nikivorof
I finally make it through the baggage check and I sprint through the airport, desperately trying to find him.
He's probably been waiting forever, not only that but the planes already boarding.
I hate the media, making me so damn late.
I make it into the terminal specified on my ticket and I spot him straight away.
Yuri is on the phone with a turbulent expression on his face.
"Yuri!" His head swings up and as soon as he sees me he ends his call.
"I'm so sorry, the press statement ran overtime... are you ok?" I speak between shallow breaths, as a vampire I have a lot more stamina than humans but that doesn't mean I can't get out of breath. I did run through an entire airport at top speed, I didn't really expect to come out of that unscaved.
"I almost though you weren't coming" Yuri directs his weak words to the floor. I may have done things in my life that im not particularily proud of, but standing Yuri up? No way.
He really does lack all confidence in himself. It hurts me to see that.
"They're about to close the gate!" I grab Yuris wrist and drag him behind me until we get to the desk at the end of the corridor.
"Gomennasai!" Yuri bows the the Japanese atendant as we show her our passports. I believe that means I'm sorry. I really should get around to learning Japanese if I'm going to live there for some time.
"Not to worry sir. Please have a good journey with JN air! And good luck in the Grand Prix Katsuki-San!"
"Arigatou gozaimasu" once more, Yuri bows and we both hurry down to the plane.

"Um Victor, where are you planning to stay while you're there?" I frown at him. Isn't it obvious?
"With you of course. You must have a spare room."
"But the thing is.... my mother... shes in a really bad state. You may not want to see her like that..." he stares at the sky through the window as he speaks. I think to ask what's wrong with her but he didn't tell me from the outset so I don't assume he'd tell me when I ask. I guess I'll have to find out.
"That's not a problem, in fact, I'll help you take care of her" Yuri turns back to me with an expression between pain and sadness;
"Why are you so nice?"
I chuckle and shrug at his question. If I'm honest...
"You bring out that side in me" I smile brightly. I wouldn't say I'm an unkind person but I usually don't care about much. Yuri has changed that. I do care about him. I can admit that to myself.
As to why I care about him; it could be anything; it could be his breathtaking skating, or his rare smile, or the way his cheeks are bright with colour when he's embarassed, or the way he makes me feel important...
He blinks a few times and i notice his eyes become wet. Is it something I said?
"Do you ever stop crying?" I laugh and elbow him jokingly, in hopes that it'll lighten his mood.
"Sorry, I'm just not used to kindness like this" he rubs his eyes and tries his best to show me a winning smile.
"You know, you've been taking care of your mom but you don't have anybody to take care of you. Good thing you have me now!" I ruffle his jet black hair and grin sheepishly. I know I've made the right decision.
When I made my announcement earlier everybody was outraged. But I couldn't care less what they think of me and my decision.
I won't regret coaching this kid. This may even be the best year of my life.
Excuse the shortness. This is really just a bridge into the next chapter. Hope you enjoyed it regardless!
